We are under a special weather advisory. Apparently it's going to bucket down starting this evening. It will then rain continuously for the rest of the week. Being built at the top of a hill our estate is usually safe from floods. Fingers crossed!
The other day I went down to our finished basement. As I turned the first corned something went past me and landed with a thump. I thought I had knocked something down. Then as I carried on down the stairs it jumps again. I think it must be a Grasshopper. How the hell did it get into my house. The only way I could think od was through the elevator shaft. With the car on the top floor I opened the bottom elevator door to discover a veritable nest of cobwebs, spider nests and junk from when the unit was installed. I brushed down the shaft walls on each floor then used my shop vac to clean it all up. This is something that I'll have to add to the Spring and Fall chores. I never thought about it before!

Power went out. Quarantined and no power and no Internet

It’s bad when the power goes out and your are in the middle of cooking something, or just filled the fridge with icecream or some other perishables.

Yes, like in California over the past few years with the wildfires. Lost a lot of food, but we are still alive and have our home. Of course, the utility declared bankruptcy to protect themselves from those who didn't fare as well but, that's a story for another day. As stated from a GOF!
You never know when the power will go out again. Maybe there’s going to be a sale at the lemonaid stand tomorrow. All the bad fish and chips you can eat. Bring Odin.
The in-laws had a power loss a few years ago on Thanksgiving. The turkey was already cooking. The outage lasted ~1 1/2 hours. Then cooking resumed. Best bird ever.

I always slow cook my turkeys, 250 degrees for 12 hours. In Florida maybe you can just put the roaster out on a sidewalk to slow cook it. And hope that a gator doesn’t come along and snag it.
Or coyote.
Did he ever catch the Mopar he was always chasing? Seems to me that Acme products didn’t live up to their name.
Certainly, in Phoenix mid-summer!
