As far as asparagus goes, I eat the part above the line, the SO eats the rest and there is peace & happiness all around. :D

OK, snapping isn’t really a problem, you can see the knuckles where it breaks. Maximizing the length of the stock while not getting too much of the tough end is my concern. Given the cost, I don’t want to throw out good parts. Fancy restaurants tend to give you just the tips and a little bit of the stock. this ensures that it is all tender.

The non-fibrous parts will snap anywhere along the length of the stalk. I have been (lamely) attempting to explain how to snap off the non-edible fibrous part at the end. This is MUCH easier to show rather than tell...

I know a place that serves their salami and bologna sandwich on a roll with mustard only. They have a sign, if you ask for ketchup, they throw you out.

Clearly these are civilized proprietors. OTOH Mickey D's will throw you out if you ask for something without ketchup (Filet-O-Fish excepted). The Filet-O-Fish is the only thing in there I can actually eat. It's not good, but one doesn't go in the Sign of the Clown for good eats.

Since we are discussing food, there is a sub shop (with 5 locations in West Michigan) voted best sub shop (at least that is what they claim).

This is the sub I get. I order the 15" #8 and save half for lunch the next day (unless I am famished and eat the whole thing).

I order it with Italian bread and light mayo. No veggies, thank you very much!

I call it my anti-vegetarian special.

The only thing green I eat is Jell-O. The funny thing is that I rarely get sick and my cholesterol levels are darn near perfect, much to my veggie-eating wife's dismay. :D

Yep, the FOF was my fallback desperation munch for quite a few years. I can't hack it anymore though, so I just go for the sucktastic dollar McChicken sammiches these days when I need a blood sugar adjustment to get me home from afar. Fast food is a bit too generous, but one does what one must. :atoz:

I would not despair to see Jell-O served with ketchup so long as it never crossed my place setting.

There's a saucy joke I know about take away at kebab shops. In my wish to avoid the ban hammer, I can only relate Instagram is a poor medium to share the art of fast food.

Chips and curry at whatever hour is a fine way to conclude a day. Not a healthy way but.

Hope they are not "used" ;).

Nah, they're definitely NOS, I read it on the Interwebs. But for four bucks apiece shipped I'm willing to take a chance. And if I have to buy a dozen to get one really good one I'm OK with that.

The tone of preamps using octal tubes such as 6SL7GT’s always seems more pleasing to my ears than noval tubes.
Agreed David. Those are actually 12SL7GTs, which opens up a lot of 40s and 50s era stock, and from a few more manufacturers than we can generally get 6SL7s in these days, especially without going off the deep end price wise. I ordered a couple of 12SN7s too, they were even cheaper.

Putting on a mask triggers a runny nose for some. A sneeze can run the field from nuisance to catastrophe.

It’s allergy time. Sneeze in public and people point at you while yelling “unclean”.

We go on mask lockdown tomorrow and from here on in. There are accepted exceptions for those with medical conditions such as asthma or other health conditions or disabilities preventing them from wearing masks. People that can’t hear well get an exemption. I don’t get that one. If I have to lip read, isn’t it everyone else that shouldn’t wear a mask?

There are apparently people with fake mask exemption cards. Much like wheelchair parking. Anti-lockdown groups that oppose new mandatory mask bylaws have started producing plastic “face mask medical exemption” cards to avoid wearing a mask in closed public spaces. Who knew.

Don’t tell anyone, this is my go to shop for octal tubes and sockets.
