Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

That did not happen at SFO then, even worse now, not that I have flown much since 9/11...just commuter flights, cramped into a turbo prop tin can.

It’s always the low hours just out of flight school pilots that are hired to fly commuter planes. Most want to move on to bigger planes as soon as they find an opening. Then, another newbie is flying your commuter.

A few things I wanted to moan about:

people who think they're all alone on their Earth (except for their family, of course)

incompetent staff all over the place

Last night I nipped over to the nearest grocery for some garlic & there was a SUV parked in front of the doors of the store, lights are on so I imagine the engine is running.
It's smack-dab in the lane to get to the rest of the parking lot, but my preferred spot is in an aisle just prior to the rear of their vehicle.

I back into that spot, right next to the driver of the SUV & look over, it's a lady & what would appear to be her child. The teenage kid gets out & starts to go into the store, just as another vehicle approaches & just sits there with their headlights glaring into the SUV, LOL!
The kid turned around to say something to her mother & waved for her to move, but dear old mum then gets out her phone & starts to make a call. The vehicle has not moved since I first spotted it & the driver behind her is starting to wonder what they're going to do next. I'm surprised they didn't blow the horn.

I give her my best look of haughty derision & she Blasts out of the parking lot:

probably off to get her husband to beat me senseless, so I get my things & GO!

I used to blame it on the culture in Thailand when stores were out of OBVIOUS things, like once I went to a KFC at 10:00 (10am) & they told me they were out of chicken. They had just opened!
Here at home there's not much difference. The local Taco Belly runs out of things on the regular & even the local 7/11 today doesn't have Big Gulp cups!

Don't even get me started about the nearest KFC. It's a wreck, so I drive a few miles out of my way in the other direction if I want KFC, which is a rarity (like today).

There you go, you’ve got it good.

I once went to KFC that was out of chicken. So the manager went to Walmart or somewhere near and bought fried chicken there. They must have thought that nobody would notice the difference. Took years for me to break down and go back.

Idiots parking in front of an entrance seems to be common. They’re more important than everyone else.

I once went to our nearest KFC a few years ago for the buffet & the manager had brought in potato salad she had purchased. That was a real head-scratcher, but I suppose she had failed to make the requisition for the raw materials to make it.
Around the same time their drink machine was out of 3/4 of the beverages.
It's down to poor management, because other stores in the area have no issues like that. The 7/11 is a similar thing, it's just poorly run.

And for the crap pay, most of the workers don't care.

They've worked hard to make an otherwise enjoyable experience as great an annoyance as possible. The maximal enjoyment of the experience depends on both where you're flying to and why. What I know is I still hold the magic of communicating well with gate agents and still get priority boarding on request (not the wheelchair sort!). My guess is at some level they recognize one of their own kind, even if I never worked for an airline.
I hope I never have to fly on an airline again. It's been 12 years, I think, since the last time, which was not horrible, but it's still horrible, ya know? Soul-sucking.

There's a place I know where the hipsters go called Bedrock

At first glance, it looked like there was a beached whale on the, uh, Clem beach.

Never had a chance to fly a supersonic. Shoot, I'm not even sure I've seen a supersonic IRL.
A Concorde landed at Hopkins in the early '90s for an overnight, so the family went to see the event. Got pics, too, with my old Hasselbald [sic].

But they don't have a very stable genius in charge.
I read this as:

But they don't have a very stable genus in charge.

It takes an American to think blowing up a whale carcass is a good idea. :woot:

The standard joke for Delta regulars goes — when your plane crashes it doesn't matter if you're going to heaven or hell because you'll change over in Atlanta.

And I will vouch for the <ahem> experience of Atlanta Hartsfield as ... just going to say I've done it and no desire to see that airport again. But none should ever have to experience La Guardia. There are limits to be respected.

The worst I've been to is Miami International and I end up there all the time. Logan is kind of complicated but the general tenor of the employees seems to be a cut above Miami. Sorry Goneplaid.
