You're likely aware a mask restricts the field of 3d vision downward. As am I. This did not mitigate the effect of momentary carelessness and a less-than-perfectly-horizontal sidewalk block. Caught the leading edge and down I went. Skinned a knee, two open scrapes on the back on my right hand, and a light brush on my right cheekbone. Otherwise fine and moderately embarrassed. Two folks stopped by to see if I was all right (I am).

The stupid thing is, the trip (I see that pun, thank you) was for a bottle of drain cleaner. There's some kind of irony in that, but uncertain where.

The good thing is, all that muscle memory learned from falling on skis and from horses is firmly in place. Not sure what that says about someone when a learned life skills include falling without injury. Must have been Captain Parmenter.

Those masks are a right pain. Sounds like you really took a serious tumble. Hitting or grating your head is never good. I think that the worst part is the embarrassment. The aches and pains come afterward. Two rations of a good dessert always helps.

Sorry to hear of the scrapes, M. Hope it's just a vanity brush on the cheek, and that the hand scrapes don't hinder your plucking technique. Glad it's not worse. But don't discount the possible post-traumatic body aches the next day! Take it easy for a while. I was shocked at the next-day pains from a rear-end car crash decades ago in my prime. I'd sure hate to get that now!

Ow! Glad you didn't seriously whack your head or break a bone or tear a ligament. The healing process is impeded in direct proportion to the number of birthdays one has had. Gonna be sore tomorrow.
