Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

We laughed at ourselves around here, years ago!

Back in the mid 1970s I used to play various bars and folk houses with Alex, John Bassette, Lynn Haney, and other NEO area folkie types.

Here are couple of other Alex Bevan songs I alway like to play.

You can never go wrong with a dog on an album cover. People relate and like the album before they even buy it.

Forty years ago, before I knew it was a no-no, my dog Zeke loved to clean the bowl after the chocolate ice cream was gone. He and I also shared a good many bags of peanut M&Ms.

We used to go the the ice cream store and my dog would get the last couple of bites of the cone. (Never chocolate.) I once promised him his own cone. He seemed to understand everything that I said. He was excited about having his own cone and was intently staring out the window. My wife came out with the cone and took a small lick on the way back to the car. He sat down and gave me this chest fallen look of disappointment. She had to apologize profusely before he would have any. He turned around and enjoyed it. Clearly, he always wanted his own cone. Dogs have dreams as well.

Confirming Odin is completely agreeable to smoked liverwurst. So am I, that's why there was some here to test. If it's cheese that smells like people's feet, Odin is definitely interested. He also know what's inside a Sweetwater package. I get the Smarties, Odin gets the Bit-o-Honey and maybe the Laffy Taffy. No Tootsie Roll except in great moderation.

"Parade Marshal" is a common role for post-production television actors. It's its own kind of Gilligan's Island.

This line must have been edited (La Contessa should be able to confirm the edit):

I believe the part that had been removed was:

What I don’t get is anyone in their right mind who sails would ensure that they have a satellite phone with them.

The Iridium network is the largest commercial satellite network in the world and the only network that offers true global communications coverage over 100% of the planet. Uniquely, Iridium satellite coverage map spans Earth's polar regions and every inch of land, sea or sky in between.

Take your pick

A briefcase marked "Top Secret"
Packages of irradiated garden vegetable seeds
Two cosmonauts and a space capsule
... and so on

If you enlarge the aerial photo that was in the news story, I think that little thing on the right side is their 23-foot aluminum boat. Scared me half to death, thinking of being on the open ocean in that thing. Yes, I know, people have sailed smaller craft longer distances than these men had been planning on. Ain't getting little ol' me out there, though.:rollno:

I’ve seen people in ocean going canoes and kayaks. It makes about as much sense to me as jumping out of an airplane for fun. Taking risks like that will never appeal to me.

I have a mask theory.

When you wear a mask, it gets wet, glasses fog up. Your mouth, tongue, cough and mucus are full of bacteria. Rather than exhaling it, the mask is supporting recycling bacteria and viruses back into you, concentrating them and raising their levels.

At some point, this is going to come back and bite the most vulnerable.

The only thing I don't like about them in that they fog up my glasses. You're right about N-95 masks, they'll protect you, most masks will only protect other people from coughs, droplets, etc, but yes do give some people a false sense of security, I still rarely go out.

I agree with you about the glasses fogging up. For me with COPD, the slightest restriction in breathing is uncomfortable. I don't know if I could handle an N-95. Fortunately, I only have to wear a cloth mask when out of my truck at curb-side pick-up. It is a short time and I am happy to remove it once back inside my vehicle.

I am very concerned if I experience someone without a mask or even gloves. After a bout with pneumonia, I can't afford to catch this thing.

It does air in the US on cable, Netflix. Eugene Levy is behind it.

Oh yeah, but I don't think you'll see it on NBC any time soon. I recently got HBO after years of being too cheap, I went through all the Curb Your Enthusiasm's and am now going through all the Sopranos. I rented Gimme Shelter the other day and forgot it was probably on HBO.... it was.
