Those who died young in the service of our country, who will remain forever young in our hearts.
The red on our flag was bought with their sacrifice.
I think back to the days when my dad told me exciting stories about storming the beaches of the Phillipines and I know he was a real hero, among a generation of heroes who only knew the term victory at any cost.

And most of the older folks in the Philippines where I live now are still very grateful for the sacrifice the Americans made to defeat the Japanese.
Some of the best guys I knew in the Navy are from the Philippines!
We used to live in New London, CT near the sub base in Groton. A pretty large Phil/Am community of retired sub sailors (Squids).
