Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Yesterday I had three young ladies hovering over me. The scent of freshness and youth was overpowering. What had I done to deserve such attention? Dentist Office! :smug:
I have a couple teeth that needed some re-crowning work. I had gone to this clinic some years back and this is not the same staff the worked on my teeth before, believe me.
They were sweet, smart, very careful and excellent at what they did. This is the first time I was sorry for a dental visit to end! :wideyed:
Anyway, good news is I have an appointment a month the rest of the year...;)

Honestly dentistry has changed so much since I was young. So advanced and so much more user friendly...

I've been looking forward to this long weekend since shortly after Memorial Day.

Oh.....Wait....I forgot.....
I'm retired...EVERY weekend is a long weekend for me! <evil grin>

I'm one year away from the big 65 and I'm dreading the word retirement. I love what I do and work with a bunch of very talented and decent people. But to be perfectly honest, it's not as easy hopping out of bed at 6:30 every morning as it was 30 years ago....

I love technology and it's what I do for a living. My home life is very non-technical. Wife hates electronics. I'm guessing I'll probably start a small business providing tech support to the little town I live in. There aren't many options for computer repair here. I think I could retire and do some sidework in the shed to keep me out of the house during "The View" and "The Today Show." !

I had a similar experience a while ago except it was for a sigmoidoscopy. :wideyed: Somehow having the three nice young ladies present made it much, much worse. :chicken: At least I was unconscious during the worst of it and got a clean bill of health afterwards. :blackeye:

I just looked up that procedure and it made me cringe!
On the positive side, you were taken care of by three lovely young things and came out with a clean bill of health! :smug:

I'm getting old.
It sucks.
Want to play a certain kind of music but the younger crowd won't accept me.
All the people in my age graphic want to play classic rock covers.
I hate covers.
I hate dogs and we have one.
Tired of being tired and in pain.
Their ruining our small town.
Now we have to move.
Used to be quiet and laid back and now the rich a holes are moving in with their cluster f*ck houses and we have nothing but constant traffic cutting through at all times.
Get taxed too much and overcharged for everything.

Not too different in my town and a lot of others from what I hear. About your pain, if it's in your lower back, maybe you'd benefit from something that just helped me in the last 10 days. My daughter and I both have lower back pain that we inherited from my dad, and on Father's Day my daughter told me she'd been pain free for 3 months, just from exercising her gluteus muscles (yeah, I'm on a rear-end thing today). Before, she only exercised her quads, same as me, and it was pulling her out of balance when she walked, etc. So next day at the gym I did the lunges and side lunges she described and I came home pain free! What the heck?!? Apparently it stopped the spasms right away. The disc injury is still there but without the surrounding muscles going into spasms constantly, it's really not a big problem. Knock on wood, these exercises have been helping me since Father's Day. You can google for different lunges--there are lots of great illustrations online--and start slowly if you're not used to working out. You can do lunges anywhere, home, office (when no one's looking), etc. I hope this helps someone. Bob

My new Dentist is going to be getting more visits from me! Her tech and cleaner is well endowed and they rest on you often! What a ploy!

My town is broke. There's not enough money to make payroll in Nov. and Dec. And some grumpy old idiot named wcriley might be appointed to finish out the term of a City Councilman who is moving away.

I have several damaged/distorted discs. One rubs against my sciatic nerve. Keeping my hamstrings loose and well stretched keeps the pain from running down my hip and leg.

Everyone always says "core exercises will help eliminate back pain" and I tried that. I've always worked my abs but when the pain wasn't too bad I added some actual lower back muscle exercises and that worked well for a few months. But when the spasms started again I couldn't do the back exercises. But I could do lunges and they helped even more! I don't know if anyone else would benefit from lunges like my daughter and I did but it's an easy experiment. I only wish my Dad had known about this. He went under the surgeon's knife at age 62 for disc fusion and didn't make it out of the hospital (bad heart).

Accupuncture or chiropractic (a good one) or great quality PT. Try staying off glutens for 30 days. If you feel better then you know it's a cause for you. Glutens promote inflammation in some people. I believe in trying these non invasive things way before the knife. My hands stopped aching when I got off Glutens.

Why chiropractic, PT, Accu? An example: Our dreaded carpal tunnel reoccurs after surgery. Look it up. Most of these issues are in the shoulder and neck. Manipulation gets it freed up.
