I'm getting a new knee installed on the 18th. Actual surgery time is 45 minutes. Computer and robot assisted. Make me start walking as soon as I wake up.
All I know is that they better give me the old one so I can put it under my pillow for the knee fairy. Yes, I still believe in the knee fairy....

Thanks, I was lucky enough to find a good doctor who could schedule me this quickly. The good ones are booked far in advance.
The bad news is that my wife and daughter have to get back to the Philippines the end of the month as school is starting. And the big baby (me) has to deal with the physical therapy on my own.

OK, GOF's I just bragged to my wife you guys could figure anything out.
We have a very small bathroom and we've been talking about switching out the tub. The tub is full sized but it sets higher for some reason. Wife and I being younger boomers are getting worried that a wrong step out and we could take a bad fall. So we're kicking a couple ideas around. Contractor comes in and builds a waterproof floor level shower, with a small lip to catch the water. Or, contractor builds us a Japanese style Orufu tub. I would like a tub roughly 2 x 4 foot and deep, with wooden slats to sit on. Two, so we can face each other and converse and steam or whatever.
Here's the problem. We don't want to step into the deep tub. I want a waterproof swinging door. It has to have some sort of gasket to keep water in during soaking and showers. I don't have a clue how to do that.
Here's an example of an Orfuru tub. Imagine this 2 x 4 feet, two sitting slats and a walk in sealing door. Any suggestions please?

I learned a long time ago from my engineering professor-adviser in school that water is VERY smart... it can find a way out of just about anything. You have to be smarter than the water is, especially when it comes to roofs.
The simpler the better. No moving parts under the waterline (or heavy spray line), and that sort of thing. I suspect that a gasketed door would be a maintenance nightmare for typical day to day bathroom use. Just my best guess

Sir, I fear you may have ulterior motives. If you are hesitant to step over the tall tub, I think what you think, and you know I know what you think, is out of the question in a tub that small.

GOF #1 stopping by for his annual visit.
Went to an amusement park yesterday with a couple of the grandkids. These old knees don't like the "walk a half mile, stand in line an hour, walk a half mile, stand in line an hour, rinse and repeat" routine.
Wife wants to take some grandkids to Busch Gardens while we're in Florida next month. Even worse (and a lot hotter) than yesterday's park. I'm refusing to go. She's becoming grumpy at my refusal. Battle of two Grumpy Old Farts in progress.

Took Marmaduke to the local vet (needed shots)…
Everytime I go in there, the young female vet asks the same question (in different ways): "Is he sometimes… bad?" or "Does he have any behavior issues?"
YOU CAN'T GET IT OFF YOUR PERMANENT RECORD!
He butted heads with old Doc early on when my Mom saved him… (shaging human scum drop off animals to die in the "country" where they are sure to get back to nature and survive ...
Anyway, the throw away King Lab of the world weighed in at 99.3 pound at around 3 years old.
(He's had many horrific critter kills in such a short time--
those tales are for darker times)
Old Doc stuck his head in after he heard me give my reply: "I've never seen him be aggressive to anyone or any other dog. He won't bother you." Old Doc gave Marm the evil eye and then disappeared. My big boy was NOT nonplussed.
My vet is scared of my perfectly harmless 100 lb lab.
I told the female vet and her male assistant when they warned me to take my face away from Duke's while he was getting the shots… "He has some sorta DNA programming that won't allow him to hurt me…even if you were to shove you're hand in his mouth, he wouldn't clamp down."
