Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Yeah.. he make the comment that he wants to be a "sessions" player.. problem is.. he really isn't that good! And to boot, he can be very argumentative! But he won't listen to that!
Back in the day, almost every country guy around here would head to Nashville. Most returned with nothing more than empty wallets and a trunk full of vanity recordings...and expect the other band members to sell them.

Then they'd bill themselves as "Nashville recording artist so-and-so" when they played the local dives.

Well they are acting like he is "still" a member.. even though he has stated that he is going there.. "oh I will come back from time to time and play with you all".. I was like really! NO! So instead.. I am going today to get my stuff.. I don't want to be part of this whissy washy party of a band that isn't getting the work done, because this guy can't seem to do his home work, wants to argue about how a song goes.. (I have a music stand with a note book (a big one) with the chords and the progression.. that don't seem to matter to him!
Hopefully, you can replace him quickly, before he fails and comes back like a bad penny!

I am in the same boat.. plus I used to be better, but my fingers don't want to allow me.. I still have the same energy in my mind! But they don't seem to want to follow along!
Yah, I think those are the requirements. Be very good and do as told without causing trouble. I would fail on both, not because I wouldn't try to do a what I'm told, I'd just be unable to for lack of talent.

Yikes. I'm still working on getting good in the first place. I guess even if I have more finger trouble ahead, I can still meet my goal of good enough to play with friends when I retire since friends will likely be GOFs with their own problems.

Oh.. I still get compliments from time to time.. but I know that I am not meeting my standards at all anymore! I guess I need to go easy on myself and lower my standards!

Maybe pulling out of that band is good. Sounds like more of a frustration than a good time. Hopefully you find a new gang to play with that has the ego trips set aside. For me, if it's not fun at least much more often than unfun, it's going to end.

Anyway, we started the first recording session with the "Artist". That would be my 15 year old daughter, singer/songwriter "Ayessa". Great songs, but a real teenaged PITA sometimes. Luckily my best friend and keyboard player is producing the sessions at his home studio. Still big fun and wonderful to see the beginning of a new talent.

You know that that has to be awesome to be part of that!
