Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Nope!
As I look down on my dinner I am having, before SWAMBO wakes up and sees what I'm actually eating for dinner, I realize, after careful conditioning and honing every cell in my body for half a century, depriving them of some micronutrients, overloading with others, I am finally able to thrive on a diet of beer, cracklin and pickled hot bell peppers (soaking the cracklin in the sauce). @99Z3 have you had your US RDA of cracklin today?

Easy fix bro lefty!

Recipe:

Big ole pork belly
Oil - animal fat preferred, but anything that can get good and hot, maybe peanut oil
12 pack

Consume beer while heating the oil on your turkey roaster. Have wife begin cutting pork belly into desired size. Continue consuming beer, while staring into the purdy blue and orange flame. Occasionally test the heat with a piece of pork until it boils. Ignore anything anyone says to you, just keep at it, consuming the beer and awaiting the right temperature. They must be ignored, you are busy. Once it will boil pork, you can drop in a good handful of meat. Keep the temperature right and keep sipping on the suds. When they start floating to the top, they are done, and you just skim them out, add more, and have a beer.

:D Don't forget to turn off the gas! :D

So I am awake at 5am on a Sunday morning; can't sleep thinking about tomorrow morning's knee replacement surgery. I have now heard 50 stories of what the recovery is like, ranging from screaming for your mama pain to stopping off at the disco on the way home from the hospital. All I can say is give me the drugs!

When I was in the Navy, I worked in ortho for a while, the ones that complained the most were the male officers. The Women hardly cried near as much as the men did.. The moral of the story is that you don't have to take it like a man!

Hopefully, you fall somewhere in between those. My wife has been working in post-op for while now. She's been taking over the evening after the day of replacement surgery, no disasters and they all go home the next morning. You'll get some sexy hose to wear and those are very important to prevent blood clots which can lead to a serious emergency. You should tell the surgeon about your 20 + hour commute to get home and see if he wants you wearing those in flight. Following all the instructions and taking prescriptions on schedule before the onset of pain will help you a lot. I've had a lot of chronic pain and for me, 90% of the time if I take one small dose when I wake up, I'm good for the whole day. If I don't, I'll need two or three doses. Me'en @BassmanPaul have been in and out of the shop now, and repairs were good. So you'll be the third GOF repaired this summer :D Let us know when you are out and feeling well and chatty. I've got an easy week or two coming up at work, so If you are up to it and not at the disco all the time :D we can resume our conversations. I can't recall right now, but I did come up with some questions regarding moving back to the Philippines. Hopefully our new presidante over there will have put a good dent in the shabu problem by the time you get back.

We'll be thinking of you para` ko!

That sounds good, but I would have to opt for a milder pepper or go light on it. I used to thrive on Jalapenos and atomic fire balls. Got a couple of fairly bad ear infections. Now anything really hot shoots right up my eustachian tubes and into my inner ears, causing a pain you never want to feel. Nurse/wife, me and my family doctor have never heard of this before. Wife goes to an advanced ear guy in a few weeks, so if I remember, I'll ask him. Usually ear problems lead to blocked tube, which leads to ear problems. A bad cycle. Mine are open and work fine... maybe they became hyper-sensitive or the pepper-blocking valve broke.

That sir is not good at all! Are you taking meds for it?

Nope, not had any problems with infections on an ongoing basis. Just had a couple over the last 15 years or so, and they were pretty infected by the time there were symptoms. I did have to get wax flushed out once from having high triglycerides. A HUGE blob came out, felt instantly better, and looked a peanut in the shell that had been under the couch for years. When the nurse showed it to me, I said, "You flushed my brain out!"

I do suffer some mal-nutrition from lack of Jalapeno Poppers!

My wife has had tons of trouble. Infections, several surgeries including a new ear drum. There is some tissue about 2 or 3 inches above the ear that happens to be identical. So this guy we see in
Indy dug some of that out and made her a new ear drum with it. It's thickened over the years from infections and scarring, so he wants to etch about 90% of it away with a laser beam. it's 10 times too thick and she can hardly hear in that ear now, so we are going to have him crack out his light saber and go at it later this year.
