Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Henna's unlike anything I'm aware of. American hairdressers won't touch it with a ten foot blow dryer. It's a mess to make, it's a mess to clear, takes six hours to complete, and there's absolutely no way to tell what will happen without tests on samples collected from hairbrushes.

There's a certain magic when sunshine hits henna that I can't describe.

It all comes together when I wheel my amp in with my walker that I use as an amp stand.

Hey where did the electricity come from to power the amps on Gilligan's Island when The Mosquitoes played to a sold out cabana? Where are the amps?

In looking through some photos for something I needed, found a mirror selfie from five years ago. What I noticed is my hair was redder then than now. And I've not changed my henna mix. The answer is obvious (to me). I've got more gray hair now than I did five years ago.

More gray = blonder.
*quit your snickering*

A new henna mix is expected in Wednesday's mail. I've a Thursday salon appointment. That leaves a narrow window to complete the henna job, as I've a doctor's appointment Wednesday afternoon ....

These are the sample swatches. Whatever happens when I henna is permanent, so.

Mrs. Tango does not acknowledge gray hairs or call them such. To her, they are the "clear" hairs. When she detects what she calls "root rot," she applies the appropriate products, of course. She maintains her natural dark brown tint/hue/shade. However, she has to walk around with an older, "clear"-streaked geezer. C'est moi. The Tango family tends to die prematurely, but it also tends to leave young-looking bodies behind. When my father passed away at 75 he had less clear hair than I do now at 68.

Too much red, I've noticed, looks very fakey in strong natural light, particularly sunlight. If you go brick red, of course, you have to start chain-smoking Luckies so that you develop the nice deep voice of Marge's sisters. And take to wearing sweatshirts with cutesy sayings on them. So, your choice.

Mrs. Dog refers to our, uh, ... 'mature' hair color as "going platinum blonde" and I 'preciate that. I'm actually very proud, and jealous(!), of her beautiful, evenly shaded, platinum blonde shoulder length locks. (Yeah, I been growing out my 'rona locks.)

I also appreciate that she's given up such high-maintenance activities, including nagging me whenever I forego shaving for a few, or several, days. We've got a very comfortable, loving relationship. Occasionally, though, we poke fun at each other about the survivor upping their grooming game should one of us ..., uh, "pass to our reward", though our plan is to (somehow) go together.

So, yeah, we think platinum blondes have more fun! Sorry, not sorry for lack of grumpiness.

Maybe The Professor had them all feverishly stirring some solution in coconut shells like they did when they, uh, (c'mon, memory) tried to get the radio working? "Course, from what I can tell, they'd have needed some wireless technology too, cuz there ain't no cables plugged into the instruments.

The lagoon was a natural parabola. By positioning the musicians at the focus of the parabola, they negated the need for amplification. This confused the professor until Gilligan hosted a remedial session on plane geometry.

@Morrighan,

The new America's Cup dinghies have been debuting this week, apparently getting air on your 75 footer within its first hour on the water is de rigueur:

I find it pretty rich that this boat's sponsored by the New York Yacht Club and was built just outside of Newport RI. Get off my lawn ocean, indeed.

She's a beamy one.

She's a beamy one.

Yep, the planform actually appears to closely mimic a ~100 year old classic dinghy, for real:

Lots of whale cues as well, the new British boat even has faux barnacles in the paint scheme.

While some are entertaining, flashmob song videos are as staged as reality TV shows and professional wrestling.
Yep, they are. Usually promotional, definitely an advertising vehicle, and I'm fine with that. It's people who believe they're spontaneous, like people believe reality shows are real (or former reality show hosts are) who are dupes. I most like the classical music ones.

Looks like some pretty good chop on the water there.

It's almost like sailing, only higher — ascending the western col from the laundry room back to camp seven with my foot and leg in the boot feels like moving with one crampon.

Only dim familiarity with flash mobs. First flash mobs I read about were in a science fiction story I read back when 2001 looked like a long way away.
