I trust any musician who's dealt with cables with a climbing rope or a line on a sailboat. Not going as far as trusting them with knots.

Some musicians live a charmed life. Their world is a stage. They don’t work, they perform. The stage has rigging with ropes and cables. They don’t get involved in that, others set that up for them. Riggers are like the crew on a ship, the musicians are the passengers. They book passage, touring one port after the next. Their experiences and tools help them to compose special letters that they call songs. That helps them keep the ships and their crews busy.

Another hemp product is soap. For some reason, I never use a bar down to nothing. When it gets small, I throw it out. Others take that bar down to nothing, gluing it on to the next bar.

Ever wonder what happens to those tiny hotel bars that are used once? Someone has started a charity, collecting them from hotels, remanufacturing them, and distributing millions of bars to others. Seems like a good idea. They started with the Hilton chain and it took off.

Clocks change in many areas this weekend, the first Sunday in November. I’ll be glad when they scrap it everywhere.

There is one bright spot. In Ireland and most of Europe, they changed last weekend, the last Sunday in October. So because they are off an hour for a week, meetings are an hour later for EST. A Friday meeting that’s normally at 8AM is at 9AM, just this once. But the extra time didn’t help this morning, with a windchill of 15F (-9C), the birds and other animals were still tucked away in their beds. They missed out on having warm nuts today.

I’ve heard of people going to the ER to have those little bars extracted from embarrassing places. Always soap your washcloth.

Thank you for posting this. Interesting article. I always scoffed at the idea that DST was for the farmers. I always said that it was for the bars, restaurants, golf courses, etc. to be able to stay open longer.

I am not a morning person by nature. When we switch to DST in the spring, I am tired for the duration until we switch back.

I vote we get rid of DST completely and we live with how nature intended us to. Or, as beans-on-toast states, pick a time.

A former colleague who worked as the fashion editor for a major daily paper took a Titanic memorial cruise in 2012. I saw one published photo of her and her husband in some magazine spread.

All fingers and toes are accounted for and are fully functional. My heel is too tender to bear weight.

Yet another reason to love Arizona...no DST! We're on Mountain Standard 12 months/year. The only problem with that? When (hopefully) DST goes away, we could be stuck on Denver time. I'd rather be on L.A./Vegas time.

I just started on a new project in Buckeye, AZ (west of Phoenix). I will be heading out there in early January. I am looking forward to the trip. I think we stay in Goodyear, which is really nice.

Correct for the Navajo Nation, which also includes lands in New Mexico and Utah. I'm not sure about the Hopi nation (north of Flagstaff, surrounded by the Navajo Nation). I believe that the remaining, Arizona-only tribes, follow Mountain Standard time. But I've been wrong SO many times in my life... Just ask my ex's.

Really good time of the year to be in the valley! They've had something like 60 days over 110°F this year!

Buckeye and Goodyear are straight west of Phoenix off I10, down around 800 ft above sea level. My place in Scottsdale 10 years ago was at 1600. I could see the haboobs racing east to west across the east suburbs, Phoenix and the west suburbs. Right out of the Mummy movies!

Don't miss living there full time.

I recall my brother telling me that the Pima Indian Reservation in Phoenix changes time, whereas the rest of PHX does not.

No, we're going to sell both the Impreza and Carey's Forester. It's 10 years old, and we're looking at just one new Forester after the Impreza's paid off. The Impreza is really low to the ground and beginning to give my knees issues when I get in and out. OUCH! If Carey gets itchy for her own car she wants a little electric jobbie for puttering around town. She doesn't drive much anymore, especially in these times.

They don't actually call it an electric hummer as that has another connotation. They were very specific when naming it the Hummer EV for that reason.
