I tried the Brave browser. For about one week. Then uninstalled it. It borked too many sites.
Sad to hear Fender announced that there is becoming a shortage of swamp ash due to floods, hurricanes, etc. All my life I knew most guitars were swamp ash.
As for browsers, there's a new company that is anti-tracking and pro privacy. It's called brave browser.

I had been using, and have returned to, Chrome and AdGuard. Keeping the web security separate from the browser works much better. At least today. It also allows some additional privacy outside of the browser.
I'm lazy and pessimistic. I just assume there's no privacy possible, and act accordingly.
I use an old computer to do nothing but internet banking. It helps cut down on contacts accessing the system.

I saw them in '06 at the Hollywierd HOB during the RIC 75th Anniversary bash.
Here are some photos of the Peter I know, some being on his best behaviour, others being his true self. These were at a Rick confluence/party I threw in '08. (Peter's holding the Sea Green 381) This gnarly bunch represents the US, Cañada, and the UK.
The hordes of women wanted to stay out of this photo (they were on the other side of their respective cameras, anyway).
Peter and I comparing a couple of 4005 basses (mine's the Jetglo one). Pete is in awe of the low action on my bass. BTW, the reason he's holding it funny is that he's a lefty.

How much and what kind of tweaking did it take to dial in the low action on your 4005?
Nothing out of the ordinary. A friend of mine had the bass for a few years (we did a swap). When I got it back from him the neck needed some minor surgery as he had not adjusted the old style truss rods properly and popped the end of the fingerboard off at the first fret area. I removed the truss rods and glued the fingerboard back down, then chased the threads on the ends of the rods and slid them back into place. After a good set up all was peachy. I put Chromes on the bass (40-55-75-95) as the frets were fairly worn down, and as it was a very old bass with a very thin (front-to-back) neck, I wanted lower tension strings on it. Played like a charm for years after that.

He did do a good job of You Can Leave Your Hat On. I like him a lot more at this end of his career, than I did back in the day.
Randy Newman is a tough guy to cover. Like Harry Nilson, he flits back and forth between achingly beautiful, sentimental writing and painful, biting satire.
For instance, I won't post a link to We're Rednecks on here. Although it skewered my teenaged complacency with a murderous twist ending, it only got there after repeated use of the n-word.
Off the top of my head, I can't remember anyone ever having the cojones to do a cover of that one.
You don't see singers lining up to do covers of Political Science, God's Song, Short People, or Mister Sheep, for that matter...

A lot of instruments have issues. Gibson guitars are the scariest. Never drop one, they’re prone to headstock breaks. Oddly enough, they can be fixed. Some have had the procedure more than once.

Doing the repair on the 4005WB wasn't all that difficult, and I was a VIRGIN at doing so. Those old style rods hold the neck in place like nobody's business; it's the people who don't know how to adjust them that causes the problems.
