I like the color too. I think it’s called Candy Apple Red. Yes, metal flake. A long ago guitarist had a tele with that color, I’ve always like it. Very dark maroon, or I’ve called it “blood red”. I tried to keep my feet out of the pic! It’s got some relic going for it and that’s ok by me.Very much like the color. It seems to have depth, is it a sparkle?

I had a motorcycle in candy apple red and always loved that color. The metal flake and the deep top coat adds this wonderful depth.
It would be awesome with a matching headstock. I’m not sure I’m up to it. I already got too much $ in it. I don’t think it would sell for what I have into it.

It was a similar color.It was expensive to maintain, insurance was too high. It was gonna get me trouble. Too fast. It purred at 100 mph. Medical bills...it had to go. But I miss it.

I regret just about every instrument and amp that I’ve ever sold. It always costs way more to reacquire the same pieces, especially in the like new condition I had them in.

I had this a while ago...but it’s gone now...

I sure didn’t get what I paid for it! But it helped at the time.
M main bass was a Nitro CAR P bass, about a '67- '68 with a '66 Jazz neck for years. Three layers, white base, gold sparkle under the red. They were rare back then. Nitro wears easily, it was pretty beat by the time I got rid of it, was worn right down to the wood where I rested my plucking arm, that's how I knew it had three different paints. I got rid of it in 1995 mainly due to an illness I had, wish I still had it, it was a good playing and sounding bass.

Same here and I've sold some nice ones over the years, I've had a lot of Rics including a 1972 fretless 4001FL and a color of the year Sea Green 4003 that ended up as the centerfold of Paul Boyer's book
. A Marshall Major head that I sold for 150 bucks in 1976 that routinely go for 3-4 grand now, I loved the thing too.
My former 1962 jazz bass is currently owned by an old friend. He doesn’t play anymore. I sold my CAR P bass to someone who owned a guitar shop somewhere in NH, he came to me to get the bass as I was too ill to leave the house but I don't remember the name of it. I got 500 bucks for it, beat looking basses were not really that desirable back then. I've often wondered what happened to it, probably in pieces and re-finished.
What was going through your head when you decided to buy two? Was one a backup or did you use two at a time?
I sold my 1967 blackface Dual Showman for 300-400.00 during the mid 70's too but I did get another identical head, paid 1000.00 for it, looking for a cab right now, those are close to a grand now too and they're rare. I think I told you I used to play with a guitarist who owned two white Bassmans and they sounded great, maybe your old ones?
There was a time when a blackface Bassman head in descent condition sold for $250. A lot of amps and instruments were in the up to $500 range.
I have never owned a Fender amp. Or a SVT. Oh well.
My two main amps, Fender and Ampeg, but I've never owned an Acoustic either. I've had at least one SVT continuously since 1975, well except for the two years I didn't play when I was sick in the middle 90's.
