It turns out that it isn’t just you. I’m using an ipad as well. There must be a bug in the software. I see this when I read the post:

When I refresh the page, I see an expanded version, same as you. It shouldn’t be doing that.

Glad to know it's not just me. I've been seeing this for quite some time now, but I thought it was C19 related. ;)

When you post on TB, they have their own set of emojis. This one must be on the computer OS. I’m wondering if the TB software is processing the image and altering the size in an attempt to optimize the display. It could be a bug in the TB software, not on our systems.
My guess is TB software issues, too. Other sites I frequent that use Eem Oh Gees don't do this.
.Graphical. User. Interfaces.
Ah, I always thought GUI meant Giant. Unusual. Insects.

onion shrug

It's a sort of pun.....Gallic shrug.....garlic shrug....

Maybe I should stop shrugging and start drooling?.....

ASCII wasn’t codified until 1963. The prevailing code in 1939 was BAUDOT.

NCR’s 12BitSlab used BAUDOT to represent 2 6-bit alpha characters in a single slab. One could also store 3 4-bit digits in 1 slab.

BAUDOT was cool in that it was used to send text over telephone lines. It was invented in the late 1800’s long before computers. Initially they used a piano type keyboard. Long before QWERTY.

At one time, we used teletype machines as a computer interface. Those machines were loud, machine gun like. There was a paper tape interface, like a long ribbon, that could be generated and then fed in to to send. The tape was used to load code into some computers. The keyboard could also be used. After that the teletype acted as a printer.

Speaking of which--we have a 35 year old OS--the IBM AS400 that refuses to die at work. We've paid tens of thousands of dollars to migrate data off the old bugger then departments find more data like Assessing and ask us to migrate even more data over-- which isn't that friendly with today's programs. Sheesh, it needs to die already!

Today, December 21, is the shortest day of the year in these here parts. But they fool you with this statement. The morning sunrise stays much the same till the end of January. At that point, sunset starts to get noticeably later. Still, I like that the days will be getting longer.

Visit timeanddate.com to see how the daylight times change in your area.

Used to be people would throw a big party tonight. Don't take the brown vaccine.

Ahhhhh....what a wonderful weekend. After having just one day (night) off in the last two months thanks to covid and staffing issues, I told the powers-that-be where I work that I would not be in at all this weekend as mrs. BUM and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. We spent the weekend in the finger lakes area resting and dining in opulent luxury which included a night in the Tower Suite at Belhurst Castle in Geneva, NY. (Geneva Vacations - Finger Lakes Lodging | Belhurst Castle) A relaxing time was had by all and the missus had a willing servant (me) to fetch her wine from the spigot in the hall. If you click the link, we had the room with all the lights on on the top floor and that includes a nice sitting area at the top of that pointy tower. We've been through a lot together and she means the world to me. Hawaii cruise re-scheduled for a year from next month, then planning to retire by the end of 2022.

Is that grumpiness vaccine widely available? Or just a seasonal thing like Christmas ale?

To hear tell, every band in New York state all the way from Horseheads to Elmira played the Rongovian Embassy?
