I understand they make for pretty good musical instrument strings, too.

Suspensions and most other aspects of drivability have come a long way since those days...thus the restomod conversions of those old classics these days has become very popular. I imagine that yours is well more refined than what I drove back then. But my favorite version from a visual sense is the C1. so cute!
Always liked watching the deer in the meadow outside where we used to live in the Vt countryside. Occasionally the sun would come up to reveal a moose as well!
I never rode in a Corvette either, but did own a '59 356C "Bathtub" Porsche for a while. It was pretty beat, but 2nd gear was still a thrill!
Closest I got to owning a Corvette was something like this:
Lots of power, fun to drive but cost a lot in chiropractor bills. Seems I couldn't remember how to get in and out of it without putting my back out. To be honest, it was due to a sports injury, nothing to do with this car or any other that I had to bend down to get get in or out. Vans and trucks solved the problem.

Too much time living in the city core teaches me that fancy cars aren't secure. Better for me to have a simple mom and pop type vehicle. I'd seriously consider an electric car, I like the technology.

Depends on the city. There are certainly places I know where a locked car with a radio is an invitation to theft.
Only rode in a 'vette once-it was better than I expected. But I did get to drive one of these a few times. Thanks, D'Arcy(RIP). Shelby GT500. Stupidly quick.
I like the technology, too, and the EV are not shy on acceleration if that is your game. They are definitely faster off the line by their nature.
And, so many less moving parts to the power plants.
EVs will become the mainstream vehicles and the internal combustion car will become a cult thing to the point where emissions should not be a huge concern. Pour on the horsepower, please!
Sadly, license plates from somewhere else is an open invitation to break in. They figure that there must be hidden shopping packages or luggage. Despite my warnings, visitors have this happen way too often.
My favorite Corvette is the chrome bumper C3 - '68-'72. The C6 generation has a lot of the lines from the C3 plus being a modern car and more comfortable.

Many areas already have laws banning the sale of new gasoline powered passenger cars by a certain date. Here it's in 14 years. Somehow, I don't think that'll happen in Texas.
I have a friend with a '68 Shelby GT500KR. I got to drive it the other year. His wife's dad bought it new then the son had an accident and caved in the left front of the car. It sat in a barn for 40 some odd years. My friend and his wife had the car restored for the dad's 80 b'day. Cool car. It's pretty rare even in the Shelby world - 428CJ, 4 speed, convertible with A/C.
Hey, I got my first speeding ticket in one of those, a '65 Mustang convertible, bright red! It was 1968

lol. Probably not. There are things we like about living here then some days we are ready to get the h-e-double-hockey sticks out of this place.
I've driven a number of fast cars - on a track - not the street. For me, Corvette is the best bang for the buck sports car in the world.

If anybody's offering a grant, I volunteer to raise my skill level by driving a [sports car] every day for 90 days on the Nürburgring.
I was going to offer you one of my Formula 1 cars, but you said sports car, so, sorry.
I agree especially the used market. This '07 was about 65K when new. We bought it for less than half that with only 14K miles on it. Pretty easy to increase performance with GM and aftermarket products. I have a friend in St Louis with an '05 manual tranny. He's done work on the engine and a few other things. He drag races occasionally and runs in the high 10s. I rode in it once. It's scary fast and still well behaved in normal driving.
