It was hot enough, I went as far as I dared. Mrs. Dog, too! But they weren't quite as uninhibited as the movies like to suggest, at least not with us tourists. And, from what I've seen of the old folks we usually cruise with, I was very glad!

What, shoot on a real sound stage when we have all this computing power? You know how much physical material reality costs!?

I'll be prohibited from working (what, me work?) and selling anything brought into France as a personal effect (no duty) for 12 months. I'm going from 1800 sq. ft. to a little more than half that, once my house is built. Until then, I'll be renting, probably in the 700 sq. ft. range. Available space was a major concern when doing my yea/nay.
FWIW, I left the Ibby Mezzo bass and G&L Tribute Tele behind. The Ibby plays great, but is active only, so selling it eliminates the need for me to convert it to passive. I bought the Tele for $250 on a SDotD from MF. It's got the original, bright alnico pup, so I kept the Ascari GT which has a lot more tonal variety.

Sounds like you have it well thought out. Folks in Europe think differently when it comes to space and many other things.
Mike Pachelli moved from Nashville to France. It might be helpful to reach out to him to see if he has any words of wisdom about how to execute a move. Mike Pachelli Home I don't know him personally but he's a nice guy and answers all his emails.

So a couple weeks ago I was perusing through Reverb checking out basses, looking for a lefty Fender American Standard Jazz from 2012-2016, which I read on TB forum are really good years for basses. Plus Custom Shop 60s pickups, my favorites, come stock in them.
I found a new posting for a Lefty 2013 Jazz Mystic Red in Mint condition. It still had the plastic on the tuners and pick guards. Turns out an older guitar player bought it to learn bass and then was in a car wreck and now struggles playing stringed instruments (or so the story goes). So he is selling off a bunch of his gear that he can't play. The bass was only played a few times at his house. Not a scratch, nick, or dent to be found on it.

I was able to purchase it for a really good deal. If you price out a 2020 MIM Fender Player Jazz bass and add a set of Custom Shop 60s pickups and a Fender Deluxe Hardshell case, you would pay more than I did for my new bass including taxes and shipping.
So I mentioned to my wife that I bought myself a birthday gift. She says "Let me guess....A new bass?"
I reply "Yes".
She says "I guess I won't have to get you your typical birthday 'present', if you know what I mean..."
I say "That is not fair, why can't I have both?"
She says "You know you would rather have a new bass then, you know..."
I said "I would rather have 'You know' over a new bass, but between THIS bass and 'You know', please don't make me choose."
Anyways, here is my updated collection of basses:

Thanks to all you GOF well-wishers! We had a quiet evening watching Tom Hanks movies and ordering in some taco and Chile Relleno combo dinners. At our age that's pretty exciting!

This movie made me question a lot of things...
Troubles at school. There is flooding in the band room from snow melt so no rehearsals there for at least two weeks. The pic the director sent shows about an inch of standing water. All of the amps are on the floor. The drum set is on a riser. Don't know if any equipment was damaged. He said the room has flooded before but not this bad. Apparently the flooding problem was never fixed. D'oh!
We have a gig around the end of March which gave us five rehearsals. That's been cut to three if we can't find an alt location at another campus. Then there is the covid distancing to figure out. Everyone in the class plays pretty well. If they practice enough we'll be good.
