I'd rather listen to Sonny Rollins solo than listen to Ray Brown solo.

Add Stanley Clarke to the mix. I saw the 30th anniversary tour by Return To Forever, sitting 5 rows back from Chick (RIP) stage left. His combined acoustic/electric solo was killer. Here's the same stage setup. Looks like the same tour. Comes in at 46 minutes when his solo song starts. Solo starts around 58 minutes.

Everyone solos the head once is the rule of thumb I know. And I thought this was interesting in that regard

Edit: what I was taught is to learn both the head and the melody. That way I can see how the song actually works. And, $deity forbid, can do something vaguely melodic if called upon.

Whew! All this talk about soloing! This was from one of Rare Blend's silent movie gigs (Metropolis, I think). This particular gig was at the Peace Park at Coventry and Euclid Heights Blvd. Outdoor show with a big screen set up by the City for us. Lots of people frolicking, ambulance sirens, occasions, basically, a lot of distractions, but we soldiered through it all.

There is a long intro, the song, itself, begins at 2:05. Pacing and length of various sections were dependent on the on-screen action.

Up in the attic again. The junction box in question was not the problem and found it wasn't even on the circuit in question. This is becoming a treasure hunt! Blown in insulation to dig in, follow a wire, dig some more, and wear an N95 mask, too! Whoopeeee!

No more digging today. Hunt for treasure again tomorrow.

I assume that you ruled out your hi-fi amp. Trying it on another circuit breaker circuit, measure the voltage at the wall outlet. If that circuit’s voltage is lowered, it’s the amp. Many amps have what is called a death cap on the primary side of the power transformer. If this capacitor is partially shorting, it can account for the lower voltage.

I really like this Genesis stripped down album. Simple song orchestrations.

Hi-Fi do have death caps. Isn’t Wee-Fee a laptop dog? Not to be confused with a laptop that uses wi-fi.

All the Jewish weddings we played, the dance never went that long. Lotta energy there.
ADDENDUM: The band I was in in Miami(large Jewish population)did a ship(sp?) load of weddings in the 70's. I'd hate to be a wedding band now with the 'first dance' being some hip-hop/rap "song". When we did a lotta those it was often "We've Only Just Begun" by The Carpenters or maybe "Colour My World" by Chicago or something like that.
