That rallying cry of "Gout sufferers, stand up!" didn't work o_O
Neither did "Run Awaaaaay".....

So I came up with....."More moule et frites".....:hyper::drool:......

I love Brussel Sprouts! My wife roasts them with garlic...mmmmm. Of course, I'll eat just about anything, as you can tell by my size when you see me. lol. Only "food" I won't eat is anchovies. Nasty, salty, fishy....aggghhhh:vomit: It's not food, it's bait!
Well....here we go...

Anchovies make a great flavor enhancer. I use anchovy paste when I make tartar sauce.
I don't care for them on pizza. And as many may know it can be an ingredient in Caesar salad dressing.

I hate brussels sprouts so much I think I would prefer to get gout than to eat brussels sprouts..... :vomit:
mmm...I'm thinking...I've had both...on one hand, when the gout was at its worst I was popping hydro-something opiods like Pez, so that was pleasantly buzzy while they lasted, but both I and my doc are smarter than to refill that Rx. On the other, I have tried those little green balls of misery prepared so many different ways, and all of them have made me gag, even if I was holding my breath. So the horrible green things only last for as long as it takes me to spit them out, but when I had gout it was a year of bad pain.

Gout deserves no defense(defence for my British compadres)
When you can't tolerate a bedsheet on your foot at night, or wearing a sock, simply because you chose to indulge in some deliciousness, it gets no free pass.
I have had flare ups since the age of 32. I have also reduced the things I cannot ingest, to beef liver, and concentrated tomatoes. i.e. marinara sauce, or any thing with tomato paste. I love tomatoes, but V-8 juice will put me on the disabled list.
From my extensive research, everyone who suffers from this abomination, have different triggers, for some it is shellfish, other's may be alcohol, etc. I used to take daily alpurinol, and the stronger drugs when I had flare ups. But since I have found my triggers, I haven't taken anything in over 5 years.
Defend gout? I damn it to the depths of hell!! We can put men on the moon, robots on Mars, but cannot cure the scourge that plagues those who enjoy the best cuisine Mother Earth has to offer? Never!!!

I don't like anchovies, but will tolerate small amounts of Caesar salad dressing at intervals of some months.

Ah yes...agreed! They are an ingredient in A1 steak sauce too. I just don't like them whole on top of a pizza or something.

An anecdotal preventative is said to be tart cherries, even mentioned on Mayo Clinic's site, so I take a tart cherry extract capsule, obtained from Vitamins and Supplements, Natural Health Products, Organic Foods - Swanson Health Products every morning with the handful of prescription drugs. So far, so good. It may also be equally effective as an elephant repellent too, as I've seen none of those since starting to take it nearly a year ago.
