Like lobster, our local Sitka "spotted" shrimp taste like mini-lobster tails. Very firm meat and flavorful. I can tell the difference between warm water shrimp and Alaskan shrimp. Warm water shrimp are soft and have less flavor. I think the Sitka shrimp are firm and tasty because of the ice cold ocean water.

Although our friends give us shrimp a few times a year, we also buy from the local seafood processor by the 2 pound box. They're flash frozen. Here's a box of local shrimp ready for consumption.

She went "swimming" in the Tidal Basin by the Jefferson Memorial in 1974. Was that a long time ago? Seems like only yesterday.

When I moved from Miami to West Palm Beach, I wanted to continue getting the Miami edition to keep up with the 'local' news in Miami. Called "The Herald", told them what I wanted-and why(native Miamian). "Oh, no, we have a special Palm Beach local section", (me)"I can get that from the Palm Beach Post", (them)"Ours is better",(me)"Don't care. Wanna keep up with things in Miami",(them)"Tough [stuff]". Oh, well, no more Herald for me.

Fanne Foxe died recently so people can talk about her. She was a stripper known for being involved in a 1974 sex scandal surrounding the powerful Arkansas Congressman Wilbur Mills. It brought him down, he was stripped as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee and he didn't seek reelection. They called her the Argentine Firecracker. She got a tell all book deal out of it.

I think they made a movie about that starring Paul Newman or Burt Reynolds. or maybe two movies. Anyway even in just the last couple decades they could make dozens of movies about Washington sex scandals!
