Went for the Boaty McBoatface look, I see.

If you live around chipmunks (ground squirrels; I call them chipmunks to differentiate the word for my dogs; a squirrel is one of those big Abert's squirrels that are all over Flagstaff), you realize very quickly that they are destructive little buggers. They won't invade your house. They'll just dig tunnels under everything that matters to you. When one decided to add a south entrance to his multiple east and west tunnel mouths, he started digging out under my driveway pavers. That's when I declared war. I plugged everyone of his tunnels except the highest one, and flooded the lot. Never say him again. My dogs took out the rest!

The sylvatic plague AKA Yersinia pestis AKA the Black Death is well established in the American western states. The typical vector in Southern California (as I learned in my role as a reporter long ago) works like this:

Average family takes a picnic in the state forest. They let the family pet dog off the leash to romp. Family pet dog chases a ground squirrel down its hole. Dog sticks snout down the hole; carbon dioxide excites the fleases. Fleas jump on dog's nose. Everybody goes home, maybe a few more flea bites for everyone. Dog dies, authorities contacted &c &c highly curable if caught soon enough.

Story runs to no effect. Wire service wants to pick up the story about the cat that got the credit card. :meh:

There was one band that I was not terribly keen on and that was Beck, Bogert, Appice. I don't like Tim Bogert's singing mainly.

Tim was very big on bassists learning how to sing. Pearls before swine and all of that.

Teddy (remember Teddy?) got a pre-approved AMEX card in the name of Teddy Shepherd (true story). The wire service failed to pick up on that one.....

Jeff don't need no stinkin' singers. ;)
Darn tootin', I don't!

Seagulls are the worst for pestering you, they'll try to steal anything you are eating. Crows have a gang mentality, geese with their poop round it out. Herons are scary but keep to themselves. Hawkes like to eat the seagulls. It's kind of like a Star Wats battle in the sky down at the port.

I like the ducks. They are friendly, they come over to visit and sit nearby. I like watching them tend to their young. Great swimmers that dive deep underwater for weeds. They can stay under for a while.

While returning from a fishing expedition last year, I came upon a mother duck and six ducklings. As soon as they saw me, all of the ducklings 'submarined' off in different directions and the mother did the 'injured bird' act in front of me all of the way back to the boat ramp. What a performance! When we arrived at the ramp, she shot up from the water, shook herself off, and flew back to her little ones. Ducks are cool.
