Yep, this is what I'm talking about. The new phone cannot abide anything it thinks is "dark." Left to its own devices, it will self-adjust to find an exposure value for every pixel in the frame, even if it means blowing out the bright areas. Luckily (if you want to call it that), it also shoots RAW format, but if I'm going to spend time tweaking RAW images, I may as well break out the DSLR, and get the [bleeping] picture I wanted in the first place.
This phone is tolerated, but not loved.
Tony Levin. He's published at least one book of his photos that I'm aware of (there may be more by now), and shoots pictures from the stage at pretty much all his gigs. I've even spotted myself in a couple of them.

Tony Levin is a bass god. He is one of my most favorite bass players. I loved his tone on the Peter Gabriel Secret World Tour. Music Man and Ampeg. Killer combination. I had a SBMM black lefty with a maple neck. I NEVER should have sold it. Now I don't remember why, but it's so hard to find a black SBMM now. But yeah, Mr. Levin is a beast on the bass. If we all lived multiple lives, I'd say his is pretty peak right now.

It's raining today. Something really odd is happening. I'm seeing earthworms in biblical proportions on the sidewalks and trails. Every slab of sidewalk has hundreds. I've never seen so many in my life. I tried but I couldn't walk without stepping on some. Another odd thing, you'd think that the birds would be feasting but I didn't see any of that going on.
I always feed the birds shelled raw sunflour seeds. Last week the grocery had flax seeds on sale for 99 cents so I bought a couple of packs. They are supposed to be good for you. I mixed them with the sunflour seeds. Turns out that the nuthatches won't eat them. Same for the squirrels. They are high in oil so you'd think that they would like them. Maybe being soaked in the rain today will make them more palatable.
Every day I whistle a call when the seeds are down and the birds flock in. I bought a dog whistle some time ago thinking that I could use that. It turns out that the squirrels find this highly offensive. They scatter and start barking, a sign of danger. Even the ones that know me. So if you want to get rid of squirrels, try a dog whistle.
I saw an interesting standard poodle on the trails this week. He has brown and white palomino type patches in his fur, he must be a mix. Some people get their poodles hair done though. This dog arrives in a car for his walks. He takes a few steps into the woods and then looks around in wonderment. Takes a few more steps and then stops to look around, drinking everthing in. He did this with me the first time he saw me on the path. He seems to be so happy to be amoungst the trees and doesn't want to miss a thing. One happy dog.

An image composition lesson. You'd think that a company that sells tools to woodworkers wouldn't depict missing fingers on the front of their catalog.

Last night Carey reminded me that she had two medical appointments today. So I emailed my boss and told him I would be chauffeuring Carey around today. Carey wanted to go in a little later this morning and I called our clinic to reschedule. Turns out this is our doctor's regular day off! So wow big misunderstanding somewhere. So we're able to reschedule our imagined appointment to May.
This is our regular trash day and I have stuff in the spare bedroom that I could certainly throw away so I guess I'll have plenty to do on this unscheduled day off. So what's everyone else doing this weekend, GOF's? Any exciting or interesting plans?

Dried chipped beef for SOS is maybe not the very best cut of beef. Rule of thumb: don't economize when buying "economy" meats
May Day is three Saturdays from now. First day of summer, as I observe it. The local growers' market opens that Saturday. There will be a few winter root vegetables, some people selling sprouted plants like tomato and such. Two different people sell beef. Today the lady who runs the register while her husband grills hamburgers (for breakfast, for someone, I guess) and I ran into each other twice at the supermarket. She's one hard-working mom. A farm and a family is a tall order.

Going fishing tomorrow. Haven't had a chance to wet a line in a while. I don't own a boat either so I'll be sitting on the river bank. Ice chest with cool refreshing beverages, beside me. Temps only in the 60s very mild for this time of year. Hopefully the fish won't disturb me too much.
Not much planned here. It's the weekend?
I'll be carrying the deck furniture and the patio furniture from the basement to their respective destinations. 30 years ago, it would have been a 30 minute chore. Now, it's an all day ordeal.
Under these circumstances I see no point in putting out more than two chairs. We will not be having company and if someone does show up they won't be sitting down.

I mostly have errands to run. There are travel restrictions, they don't want you leaving the region. Other regions don't want you entering. It's all mapped out by the authorities. Need a new bathroom sink, will find one at a hardware and get to install that.
We tend to the gave of my wife's grandparents. Recently found out by accident that her great grandparents are in the same cemetery. Will be trying to locate them with the help of the office staff there. The grave has not been visited by family in over 70 years and I want to set that right.
