Hey, @GonePlaid , would you believe the new Freightshaker Cascadia's have a circuit that automatically turns your brights on above 50mph, and douses them when it detects oncoming lights.
It's the most distracting thing ever, keeps changing your perspective of the road surface.
Fortunately, there is an override switch to keep you from killing yourself on a wet road.

A long strange trip dictates a nice stone to step up on.

In that position, it could be a headstone rather than a steppingstone. I've been spending too much time in the cemetery. That stone could be 125 million years old. We are star dust....

Yeah, If I owned a truck, that would get disabled. Even when I hung it up in '07, there was staring to be too much electronic[stuff]for my tastes. The last company I worked at didn't go all out for the latest tech, thankfully. I doubt I could work any more with some of the current regs and other changes. Fortunately, I don't have to.

I've discovered a coupla YT 'channels' where a person(or computer voice)reads stories from Reddit. There's one called Red Wheel where the voice at least sounds live. He(?)recently posted a story that took place in a bookstore that featured a person returning 3 copies of "Geddy Lee's Big Book Of Bass", which was read as 'bass'-the fish. I wanted to tear out what's left of my hair. So it's not just the player that gets no respect, it's the instrument too. Aaaarrrggh!

I used to subscribe to BassMasters magazine a long time ago. When I got the first issue they included a sticker that said BASS with a picture of a fish. What the...? It took me about an hour to cut out the fish pic and glue in a picture of a bass. I cancelled when all they had each month was fish. I complained about the title being confusing but they told me to go away.

The Bass Performance Hall is in Ft Worth. It's about time our instrument was recognized but I have to continually correct people on pronunciation. If it was about the fish wouldn't there be a fish logo on the building? Geez, some people...

Conures are famous for noise. We currently have 5 of them, along with 5 Senegals, 6 African greys, 3 cockatoos, 14 amazons, 20 macaws, and a frackin partridge in a pear tree.

During feeding I wear OSHA approved hearing protection. OSHA requires them at over 85 db. One cockatoo can generate 112.

A roommate in college had a parrot. Lovely creature. Very helpful. Whenever we picked up a new O.Z., the bird would sit on someone's shoulder and grab their ear and hold on until we dumped the oz on the coffee table and let him eat the seeds out of it. He left everything else behind. Good bird! If only we could have taught him to take the stems along with the seeds. Then he'd have been an awesome bird!

The only problem on deseeding day was that it kind of lit him up. No way to catch him until dark, when he'd fly into something solid, and we'd catch him and put him back in his cage.

I had one standard poodle who loved getting a shotgun. None of my other dogs have ever been interested. Some animals like it; some don't.

Had one of those in my college car, a 6-window, custom color '61 Cadillac Sedan d'Ville. It never worked.

But the tube AM radio scanner worked great! As did the hydraulic cruise control. But not the headlight auto-dimmer. I checked around. Turned out, they basically didn't work for anyone.

At some point, driving a vehicle is a manual, analog operation.

There is ZERO chance that I'd let a Tesla do my driving for me. Just look at those two dead knuckleheads from last night. One in the front passenger seat. One in the rear passenger seat behind him. No one in the driver's seat. Tesla left the road at high speed, struck a tree and completely burned up (the batteries reignited the fire; the fire department needed 23,000 gallons of water to put the fire out).

Not much left.

It just seems like it is impossible to make those type of things fail safe. And the consequences are too dire.
