Yep. Ampeg's PF-350 head states it on its rear panel: 250@8, 350@4. And what are the portaflex cabs? 8. So to get 350 out of a single-cab portaflex, you have to buy the PF-500, labeled as 350@8, 500@4. And, as beans said, they push extra cabs. Everything's a racket. Except La Bella flats. And they're prolly overpriced, too.
ETA: This whole gripe is a "principle of the thing" complaint. I've read more threads about how there's not much difference, etc., etc. to the point that my teeth itch, so I get the idea. But 'taint right to sell you an amp or combo and in effect say, "Oh, now, you aren't really going to get all that out of it as it sits. To do that, you also need to buy this little beauty right here and combine them." Smacks of sleazy used car sales , to me.
Yeah, that's a gripe of mine, too. Some of that has come back into home theater receivers, too. Seven channel receiver with a stated 100w per channel. Then look at the detailed specs - 100w/channel with two channels driven (tiny font is usually how it's shown) at some really low distortion level. Power with all channels might be the same but the distortion is a magnitude higher. The info is there but you have to dig a little to find it.
Something changed with reporting specs over the years or corners were cut in power supplies. I have an older Sony STR-DA3000ES five channel receiver. They give the output for both 2-channel and 5-channel and they are the same with the same distortion. An equivalent ES receiver today has slightly less power and higher distortion with all channels driven.
Now that I said all that, I don't know that it really matters other than the principle of the thing. I doubt I could hear the difference in .6% (my receiver) and .9% (new receiver) since the sound level at full power would probably drive you out of the room!

Fellow down the street figured the cost of his funeral and spent the same sum on a stereo system (circa 1980). Macintosh tube amp is what I recall.
A well known motorcycle manufacturer has this down to an art. They offer to custom fit the bike to you - seat, handlebars, etc., BUT you will have to BUY the stuff that needs to be replaced and pay to have it installed to make it fit you.
Excellent! Enjoy the retirement and the new bass (not the fish).
Therefore!
- Drill only the minimum size hole needed for the conduit, and thoroughly caulk both ends of it, inside and out.
- Put the outlet on its own breaker, and switch it off at the panel when it's not in use.
- Encase the outlet in metal weatherproof enclosure (rated for wet areas, not just "damp") with a built-in padlock hasp.
- Close & lock the enclosure when not in use.
- Caulk the edges of the enclosure anywhere it meets the wall.
Clearly... not a TB member.

Physical therapy after bilateral knee replacements also means a home skills assessment. I baked a cake. I imagine mens get to caulk enclosures and such?
Thursday a bone density scan, and labs. And no more doctor's appointments until Monday!
All right, then. I won't worry any more about having to remove the one from the roof of my car. It's a Mitty-autographed Binford 6100 twin-barreled Bofors-inspired 40 mm that I use to deal with idiots on the road. It aims where I'm looking without my having to wear any special optical sighting devices.That runs independently of that particular outlet.
