I drove a friend's car a coupla times. People would challenge thinking it was a Mustang with a racing stripe. It wasn't.(Stock photo. His had orange stripes)

Yup, Shelby GT500. Stupidly fast.

Have a friend with a '68 Shelby GT500KR. Rare even in the Shelby world. Convertible with A/C and the 428CJ. I got to drive it. It moves down the road pretty quick! Did I post about this about 10,000 posts ago? I can't remember.

You might have. Pic looks familiar, but nice to see again, anyway.

What is it about big box stores? I’ve been looking for a new TV, decided on a Samsung. It’s a new model and not in stock everywhere. Went to one place who claimed to have one. I was thinking about picking it up but decided that it would be too difficult for me to move it so opted for their “estimated free” delivery.

I dug through their web site and buried three layers deep in the shipping FAQ is a policy that TV’s over 55” have a $50 additional delivery charge. Calling customer service confirmed this. I was told that it’s a heavy unit that requires two delivery people. So I go all the way through the purchase just to see, including giving my credit card. They spring the extra charge in at the very end before clicking on place the order.

So I go somewhere else. The next place takes my order, free delivery, it’s normally $50. The order process offers delivery dates to choose from. I pick one and place the order. A panel comes up saying that because of covid, there could be additional delays. The next day, I receive a call, they don’t have the set in stock and expect delivery to the store in two weeks. I then find out that they charged the full amount to my card when the order was placed.

A delay isn’t a big problem, I can accept that. I question the way that they do business, it makes me grumpy.
er.

This one is my first and only HD. I had a hard time not buying a Honda. I had a couple when I was younger but they didn't have anything that appealed to me. The very same HD store above lost a sale because of an idiot sales guy. I was looking at a new Road King and was ready to buy something. Price tag was 18,995. I asked the guy what his best price was. "I can't tell you. You'll have to make an offer". I asked again, same answer. I said ok smartass (to myself) "I'll give you 15" "Whoa, I can't sell it for that" "Well then tell me what you'll sell it for" "I can't do that" "Bye Bye". Went to a preowned bike emporium and found the Springer. We had a ton of fun buying that bike and yanking the sales guy's chain. He was a good guy. He wouldn't budge off the price but did give us a pretty good store credit for helmets and stuff.

HD - Hundred Dollar every time you walk into the store. I stopped buying t-shirts unless it something unusual like the two below. I wanted a long sleeve from Silverton HD the worlds highest Harley store but they were 55 bucks giving new meaning to "highest" and Silverton is a clothing only store so there's that, too.

We used to do a 1 Sunday/month gig at the Stuart, FL, HD. This is the T shirt I wore for those gigs:

Priorities - bah!

But actually, yes. Almost let emotions spend a pretty good chunk of change on a '69 Camaro Pace Car that had some problems but sure looked good and sounded good! Nothing like the sound of a small block Chevy. Almost wrote the check after hearing it!

Sanity (sort of) won out and we "settled" for a Corvette. :D

My Buick has the heart of a Corvette.

Wow, Joe got the idea from you?
Yep. It's amazing, the powers a pre-teen can have on someone they never met (and on top of it, he had his long before I got mine). :bassist:

On another thread (in another galaxy on TB) I posted this photo of the Concert Amp:

Shortly afterwards, another similar photo was posted, that of Joe's Concert Amp, that his son, David (a TB member), made!

That an original? Nice shape if it is.
When I was a kid a guitar playing friend of mines father was a TV repairman and band members used to also bring their amps to him to have them fixed. One time I went over and he told me to listen to this thing, it was a white Fender guitar amp with one 15" in it, it was the most beautiful sounding amplifier either of us had ever heard, it was just so much better than the things were were using it was blatantly obvious. I can't remember what the model was, I want to say Pro or Deluxe Reverb but I don't know if they made them that early and/or made them with one 15" speaker.

That's sweet. Are these open-backed?

Yeah, original.

I do believe your friend's amp was, indeed, a Pro model, IIRC.

I thought it was a Pro Reverb but I've searched and can't find anything like it anywhere, maybe just Fender Pro?
It was a repair brought into his father, it had the nicest, creamiest tone I've ever heard, it sounded like early Clapton.
