I don't think we do any of the songs I sing in the record key. I ain't no tenor. Mustang, for example, I do in A.(Rascals in C). I did it in C once while sitting in with a band. Like to've killed myself. The BL(fella with the Les Paul Gold Top)wanted me to sing it 'cos of the "frog" voice I sometimes use. I told him I did it in A . He kicked it off in C and kept looking at me to come in, thus the long intro[skip the first minute]. This was an open mic/jam at the Stuart, FL, H-D dealer. I'm wearing my "Vespa" T-shirt, bought for these gigs. That's my Les Paul 5er>Rumble 200c, BTW.

The playback speed in youtube can be varied in 25% increments. Click on the hamburger (three stacked dots or a gear), then playback speed, then the up or down speed that you want. Reset it at the end as youtube remembers.

Problem is, 25% up or down is a big step. To do better, I download the video, then use another player to fine tune the speed in finer increments.

I drove 18 wheelers for 23 years. Still have all(6?)of the CBs I bought over the years, from a bare bones P-S Alley Cat through a coupla "modified" SSB units, mostly P-S and Cobra. Also one base station(Hy-Gain Utopia)that had a lotta channels that, let's say, didn't come from the factory. The 'book of words' had a picture of the inside of the radio wiyh a spt shadow that was captioned "WARNING: do not cut this wire as it will cause the radio to transmit 40W, which is against FCC regulations". (It was already cut when I bought it off of a guy who got a Yaesu 401.) The fine tune was modified as a 'slider' so you could get between channels. If there was a nearby 'channel hog', I could go on a 1/2 channel and blank him/her out. Hee-hee!

I had a Lafayette CB base station with a Turner Super Sidekick desk mic and rat shack 3 element beam on the roof, fiberglass Big Stick omni antenna I drug up into a pine tree by my bedroom window.

I used to do this tune in my first band when I was about 14, never could connect the guy's name with the style of music. We'd do this then the next song might be Midnight Hour or something.

This stereo version is strange, the organ drops out in a few places.


Mono, weird this mono 45 mix is almost a half step up from the album version, I checked a few 45's too, a lot of Beatles tunes are fast too, a lot of stuff was back then, sped it up for the radio.:

There was a running gag at blues jams in the DFW area in the '90s and '00s about playing Mustang Sally. Someone made stickers that said MUSTANG SALLY with the red circle and slash. Some drummers put them on the kick drum head.

I played at it until I had to go to work for a living. Wound up focused on data radio. Also used telephone lines and satellites for data. 10 years in oil & gas SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition). Switched from Amoco to Motorola and took SCADA into all kinds of industries. Did that until I got the job I was born for: consulting to C-suites of Fortune 500 companies around the world. That cost me 200+ nights/year in hotels and 30+ more sleeping on airplanes. But I loved it!
