The pads on a dog's feet smell like corn chips.

Latest Win10 update complete, I see a new weather widget on the taskbar to the left of the clock. Let's look and see what this is, right?

News headlines with pictures! A NASDAQ ticker! A sports story! Weather! ....

None of which can be turned off. But ... okay if I leave the weather thing on the taskbar I don't have to open it. Except there is no way I can find to switch from F to C :meh: so pretty useless to me

Turn the whole thing off, lose the weather thing but You Know my computer screen is directly in front of a window and there is this amazing ability I have to look outside. It's pretty accurate. Going outside with Odin as he sees to his first business of the day fills in the blanks. If I want a forecast I ask for one :spit: and it's at my fingertips on the smrtphn so there mr smarty pants communist
I prefer me a hillbilly weather station.

Home from MO. Pop had the consult with the radiation oncologist. Sharp guy, straight shooter, needs to work on the bedside manner a little. Told us what will be involved, side effects, etc. We're worried about the side effects. He will most likely have pain in his throat starting at week 2-3. Worried about swallowing problem later on in the treatment and the possibility of a feeding tube but it's one of those wait an see things. Anyways, Pop decided to go ahead with the radiation. He will be able to get it done at a facility 30 miles from his house. He goes this coming Tue for the mask fitting and mapping for the treatment then starts treatment the following week for 6.5-7 weeks, 5 days a week. His nephew will take him to the mapping and treatments then we'll relieve him probably about halfway through and stay with him to the finish and afterwards. Mrs GT will stay in MO and I'll take care of stuff at the homestead and go over about every two weeks. It's going to be a journey but there are high probabilities of curing this thing.

PS - If you guys think I'm going back to read all of your useless posts, and that would be all of them, you've got another thing coming.

All of my best wishes go out to you and your family.

You didn't get the memo that, now, everything will be spoon-fed to everyone, all the time, with no opt-outs available?

For many years, along South Boulder Road there has hung the Boulder Wind Guage. A cinder block on a 4 foot length of chain hanging from a 12 foot steel pole. I have seen that chain at a 15 degree angle once. I do not frequent that route.

Well at least with this new PITA tool bar "improvement" MS gave us a 'turn off' option that removes this crap from the tool bar. Otherwise the damn thing kept popping up whenever my mouse pointer dropped low by accident! Y'know it wasn't all that long ago when our digital dictators wouldn't think of adding nonsense like that to our PCs without first asking we would even want such garbage!
The ROBOTS, my friends, and their freakin' enablers are winning!! -RGTM was right!
Up The Luddites!!!!!!!!!!!!

If my computer does what I ask of it — and that is very little given current computing capabilities — I'm reasonably content. I've been with computers since before there were operating systems. My main takeaway in this lifetime is computers do not make my life simpler, or better, or happier. I am grateful computers do math well, and apparently enjoy it. They can have it. HaHa Only Serious. There is absolutely no reason for me to spend time messing with math when a computer calculates the correct answer more or less instantaneously. That said, a calculator is just fine for all my actual needs. Spreadsheets can go to blazes.

Well, we could change the Club's motto to simply "Get Off!!"
Or maybe, considering the general ages here, it sh be "Get Off?"

(Mashed turnips mixed with mashed potatoes, butter and pepper... Yum! ;>})
