Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

I always found it strange that my Quad son would know instantly if his catheter was pulled yet had no feeling below his shoulder level.

Sadly he didn’t have much above that level either. Treated his mum and I like crap in spite of the fact that we had thrown our futures out of the window to take care of him!!! :(

There was nothing funny about having a garden hose shoved up your pecker. I made a federal case to get that damn thing out of me every chance I could...

I do know I was not very gracious when it was finally removed...

Enough of this...
Been there, done that. But luckily I was in a coma for three days so I don't have any memories of it. Sweet!

Here's what I know:

- I have far too many amplifiers off all kinds, sizes, vintages, etc laying around...
- I have even more speaker cabs than Amps...
- I have even more effects rigs and possibilities than either of the above...
- I'm just in no mood, no shape, and no will to have this much stuff anymore. Not like I'm going on the road again, or playing venues needing 810s (or a pair of Twin Reverbs for guitar duties) again, so

One of y'all come by with a trailer, make me a fair offer, and cart this crap outta here.

Alright, boys. Let's talk preventative measures, recommendations and warning signs..... You've scared Willy into hiding. Just turned 45, hit me with some "if I'd known then what I know now" stuff. Pretty please. Diet suggestions, what to avoid, what to watch out for happening with the plumbing, etc. I'm all ears (or in this case, eyes... all 3 of 'em).

Yup did that. Except for some brews here and there and the "treat" of the occasional Coke, nuthin but H2O for about six months now. I actually do feel better in general, and have noticed I'm not getting as much dry itchy spots this winter, and no chapped lips. Bonus. I like spicy food, so no split skin on my lips makes for a much more pleasant buffalo chicken experience.

One thing I always recommend is getting your PSA checked. Get a baseline reading now, so that if it starts creeping up, the doctors can start checking for prostate cancer. I did that at your age and it saved me a few years later. I had no symptoms, but because my urologist was attentive, he noticed my PSA level creeping up. We kept an eye on it and once he saw enough of a change between tests he did a biopsy and they caught the cancer when it was just detectable, but before it got out of control. Had surgery 15 years ago and have been clean ever since. Who knows how far it would have gone before I noticed any symptoms and by then it would probably have been even more serious.
Speaking of catheters, I had one in for 2 weeks after that surgery. It was sure a relief when that came out and
I could pee on my own again.

Once I have the surgery aftereffects cleared and can walk again without the fear of pooping my pants, I'll get my PSA levels tested. I was at the urology ward for a week and the roommates who stayed for their post-op for just a night, had anything from prostate and penis cancers to bacterial urinary tract infections. I would not have traded my condition for any of those.

If your Willy is hiding, you can get it back out by coaxing gently, hopefully in the presence of a loved one. Modern medicine has all the wonders available for you. Ask your physician.

That's how my doc caught my cancer early. He started testing my PSA 10 years before they are supposed to. It went from nil to 2.5 between tests. He has me in every three moths with full blood work. From the first test where it was rising, but way under the cut off, it didn't increase and we must have done 5 test before it was biopsied. So I had robotic surgery a few months before turning 50, where they normally start testing. It would have passed the test at 2.5, although I had cancer. That would have gone on for who knows how long. The cancer was all contained inside the prostate and I'm as clean as a babies ass now. No measurable PSA. In all likelihood, he saved my life by testing early and often. It would have gone on for years without early detection. Best case, if it wouldn't have killed me and I was destined to die from something else, he saved me from radiation treatment and nasty side effects of that. I worked with a guy who lived and worked into his 90's, he had radiation treatment when he was in his 60's or 70's, and died slowly, painfully and with really bad hips from the radiation. He came to work a lot as he suffered for years, finally they convinced him to retire and he died a year later.

So yes, GET THE TEST!
