Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Some Gretsch guitars have a master, volume-volume-tone-tone; Rickenbacker has a blend control. Another option os a standby switch, all off. I can’t say that I’ve ever used the master or blend.

There are Cadillac ways of doing this type of wiring where they do a harness on a jig then tie lace around bundles of wires and make it look military pretty. Then there’s quick and dirty like Gibson does on hollow bodies. Prices can vary widely depending on the approach.

Here is an example of what TVJones offers.

Guitar Wiring Harnesses

Commonly interchangeable terms back in the century long before any of us were born. We have a sunroom that I call an enclosed porch... So there, now we have at least three terms for it. ;)
Oh, yeah. We have a small den on the side of the house that could be considered a sunroom as it has lots of windows and the room is actually south-facing, unlike our sunroom/conservatory/enclosed porch which is north-facing (as opposed to Northface :D). So, when is a sunroom considered a den, or vise-versa, but never an enclosed porch?
The Flintstones began when a doodle of a caveman on the LA freeways is passed around the office ....
We need to know, was it on the Santa Monica Freeway, Hollywierd Freeway, Meshuggah Freeway, Antelope Valley Freeway, Long Beach Freeway... ? Important stuff, here! :smug:
Everyday I feed sunflower seeds to the small birds. Recently some opportunistic crows started showing up. They are very vocal, their communications have been very complex and loud. In the last two days a falcon has showed up and is terrorizing the crows. The falcon seems to have no interest in the squirrels. What it does is pick a blackbird and closely follows it in the air, then breaks off and watches the crows on the ground. It appears to be just playing, it looks like it could move in for the kill at will. What’s odd is a nearby field has had a huge population of seagulls, they sleep there. The falcon doesn’t seem to like seagulls.

A complex community.
And it all started so innocently by wanting to feed the small birds! Our back yard is kind of like that, too. Add groundhogs/woodchucks, chipmunks, deer, cats, etc. We need more hawks (hungry ones) around here!

I read about this trend a couple of months back. It's a newly-minted euphemism designed to avoid use of the term "master," lest anyone be neo-pseudo-traumatized by that word, with the implication that it can't possibly mean anything other than "owner-of-people."
How does my having once owned a 7ender Band-Master amp fit in to all this? :wideyed:

What about people with Master Cards?

Pasadena Freeway, if memory serves.
The oldest freeway in the US. Nice and windy making it fun to drive when it's not crowded (when would that be?). I remember well the extremely short exit and entrance ramps on it!
"Merging buses ahead" is an actual sign on the Hollywood Freeway, as one approaches downtown from the north. Firesign Theater
What would a guy from Shaker Heights (Peter Bergman) know anything about that?

There have been protests about MasterCard, the company changed it’s name to EquityCard.

Mastercard Changes Name To Equalitycard

Do you have a master key, a master lock, or heaven forbid an amp with master and slave capabilities. Schools don’t have Headmasters that whip their charges. Even Master’s degrees are on their way out.

Would you want to hang around a flock of seagulls? :bassist:

Another option we've used with great success: Ship 'em ahead, ship 'em back.

It started when we drove up to Canada for a family funeral. We went straight there (in one day), with mourning wear in the suit bag & case, so it made sense to take it all along on that leg. But after the ceremonies, we decided to amble our way back down over the course of a week, during which, we'd never need those togs, tie, shoes, etc. We've often shipped back souvenirs on long road trips, to avoid having to cart them from place to place. So the light bulb went on, and I realized FedEx didn't care if it was a souvenir or a suit in the box. We put a whole suitcase and bag in a box somewhere outside Toronto, paid the minimal, "It'll get there eventually" rate, and off we went.

There's a whole industry of private couriers & shipping in Japan that'll cart your luggage from place to place as you travel, so you don't have to hassle with it. Same idea, different trucks.

That is one of the greatest movies of all time. :D

It's ridiculous, which also means it's perfect for HGTV.

I feel bad for the other bedrooms. By using the term primary for the main bedroom that relegates the others to secondary status. They didn't ask for it and were never consulted. That's just slamming the door on them.

And by some chance, speaking of words that presently require context if used, asked today for an estimate to swap out the semi-hollowbody's Volume-Volume-Tone-Tone to Master-Volume-Volume-Tone. Add a Switchcraft jack. Level the pickups.

All because the Stingray is coming back. Took the call from my luthier Wednesday when I was in a meeting break. Four or five months? is how long EBMM needed to put me at the head of the queue. New bridge hardware (you've seen how manky it is), and new preamp.

That's what it takes to get it playing again, all right with me. A non-perfectly-authentic Stingray that can be played is better than a 100 percent vintage, non-functional bass. IMO.

Make it the way you want it! I don't care about resale value or what anyone else thinks about mods. It's mine, MINE I tell you!

The Stingray has been with me so long it's part of me. Putting it in good working order, hey put me down for all of us in good working order. Amps and basses are people, too. Not really sure what the pipes are but yeah, okay with me. After breakfast. Well after breakfast, and preferably after a lemonade or three.
