Oh, yeah...I know...lot of places down there where you cant get the sweat off you with a wire brush. However, we also had a night last year when the real temp was -38 F... "chill factor" was like -75 or some craziness like that. One year ago this week we had a straight line wind storm ("derecho") from Omaha to Chicago that hit 145 mph. Iowa doesn't have a climate, just weather....ALL of it. No alligators, though.
If you want some alligators it could possibly be arranged.

Want some? We have plenty...now. Almost extinct back in the 60s.

Roku
The Most Dangerous Game.

Excellent, suspenseful.
Very short episodes.
Could stop watching. One evening.
Very good!

There’s a couple of statues in the country for remarkable steers that started lines and won awards. To cattlemen, a poster with a particular steer attending a country fair is the equivalent of a rock star appearing to us.

Interesting cow story. Saw a cow giving birth in the pasture. After a bit, the other cows circled around to see the new baby. Very social animals. They line up in a pecking order to go back to the barn.

I've had cows come over to me on a trip a couple of times when I pulled off for a break. They were not even close to the fence then came over. Pretty funny.

There are people in my circle of friends who truly hate that song. I'm good with it. Very good with Janis all the way around. Now there is a car worth owning.

Janis is in the top three female vocalists for us! Sharing the bill with Ann Wilson and Pat Benatar.

Also the only Porsche I've ever been interested in - 356 Speedster.

And another ahead of it's time.

So was the Citroën DS, the car I wanted more than any as a kid. Wouldn't mind one today, but give me a Citroën SM and I'll die happy.

I would be totally okay with a Porsche 968 coupe as a dedicated gigmobile.

It took your post (with 1948) to remind me of this. A friend in high school had a green '48 Hudson Commodore with a straight 8. He modified it into a pickup. Left the full interior, but converted the trunk into an open bed. I'm trying to remember if this was the car with the extra seats that folded out from the back of the front seats. There was a TON of room in the back seat. Looked like this before the mods.

Was the DS the one with the brake "button" on the floor instead of a pedal?

EDIT: Or was it the starter button? Sheesh. It's been decades since I've driven one. Details have dissolved into the fog of times past.

Perhaps those will come back to you once you're ensconced in the land of Citroen and Champagne. Then again given the latter, perhaps not....

Super sadly, not a problem for me. I lost the ability to metabolize alcohol 4 years ago July. Over a 6-8 week period, it just went away. My last beer (one pint of Boddington's draught) gave me a 48 hour headache so bad, I couldn't get off the couch. Couldn't sleep. But had to walk my dogs. Eyes closed to a slit. Sunglasses on. Hand over sunglasses. Didn't help. Super painful. Only been in more pain twice (will spare you the details, but the worst one knocked me unconscious). I've had to switch to alcohol-free mouthwash and vanilla extract, it's that bad.

Quitting alcohol was the EASIEST thing I've ever had to do.

Sincere sympathies like. Gee why do I feel like I just dropped a gag card into a collection of just-married congrats cards?

  1. Holy :poop:!!!
I don’t know whether I should be more shocked that it happened…OR that it took so many years for it to happen!

My Bride and I were outside, surveying the estate…Lots of potted plants in the driveway…some of them are happy n healthy…a few, lesser so.

I put my beer down on the tailgate so I could rearrange a pair of the containers…turned back,

sipped my beer, and Damned if there wasn’t a Yellowjacket inside the can, and Damned if he didn’t hit me Hard!

Being one who follows directions, I had a Benedryl in me in less than a minute…ice on it a minute later.

    6 hrs later…hurts like Hell!
[/QUOTE]

I was waiting for you to change your name to the Lip Bee Stung... At least until the swelling went down.... :)

Not a problem. Just ironic. Moving to the land of fabulous wine...and can't drink it.

What I miss the most? Darroze Bas Armagnac. The single vintages.

A Motorola senior VP and I tried the 1907 and 1908 releases side-by-side in Hong Kong back in the '90s. Didn't ask the price. Weren't paying. The local sales guy had to pick it up (I'd just helped him close a $20MM deal). The client CEO and his #2 were with us at dinner. When the drink cart came by after dinner, I saw the '07 and '08 on the bottom shelf and remarked on them. The VP was also a big fan and suggested we try them both, to be able to compare them. ;) So we did. They were beyond fabulous. Tasted identical. Cost almost US$ 1000 for the 4 shots. Since I got 0% of his commission for that sale, I just laughed when he got the bill and got all upset. The VP just shot him a look, and he shut up. :roflmao:
