I fought my fight, I say today over coffee. And this is a good convo with @mikeoso for how is it to be called back for one more mission?

Exactly so. This evening my esteemed colleague of absolutely years rang me up. I know her far too well. She does not engage my attention unless there is work to do. There are hundreds of hours of our recorded work that I might only describe as unlike anything I know about anywhere. And we binned it early this year. All of it. This is the first I've heard from her since so ...

... so she likes the cat bass
and so do I
The bad news is that there will ALWAYS be one more. The good news is that they'll keep calling you back for them. If not, what's a world for?

always seems someone's got to be in a lot of trouble if they have to call me :eyebrow: Publishers are skinflints (prove me wrong), and when I'm called because their own staff can't fix the problem then
... then I'm never sent where everything is just wonderful and yes I'll have another Mai Tai please thank you

Right here.

Sounds like you have something in common with this guy:

There's some truth in this :cautious:

... what I see is my colleague and I closed all our work by the end of February. And like that Mission Impossible tape, poof, gone, we're done, and the line is closed. Seven months go by and she shoots me an email at midnight her time [EU]. I'm curious what's up. And also know if she has a project (she does) and needs me (looks like), then ... every hour of the day is fair game to work. We talk Saturday ...

Thursday is the busiest day of my former professional life. Never change anything on a Friday is an ironclad rule. I have a plane seat booked, and I intend to use it.

It occurs to me that I've never been out of the US to a country that didnt have a war going on, and never traveled out of the US for pleasure.

Also, the only time I was paid for foreign travel, it was $118 per month.

Jeez, I'm one seriously cheap date.

Burglar makes his way into a sporting goods store through the ventilation duct. Steals whatever it is he's looking for (I suppose), and sets a fire to cover his tracks. Gets stuck in the shaft on his way out as the fire takes hold and all — all — the ammo goes off.
New band name: The Fireworks of Justice.

Jeez, I'm one seriously cheap date.
And you just now figured this out?

;)

The US Navy took me to Mexico, Puerto Rico, England, Fwance, Spain, Morroco, Palma Mallorca, Italy, Greece, Israel, Egypt, and Lebanon. Lebanon was the only one where there were hostilities('84, they blew up the Embassy Annex). While in Rota, Spain, we were restricted to the base for a day or 2 while the Spaniards dealt with the Red Brigade misbehaving. As a civilian, I have been to Italy again and Japan. Of all those, one was at war.
