I gave myself a black eye a year ago when the ipad hit my face. Close call, could have taken an eye out. I rigged up a holder with a heavy duty cymbal boom stand. It worked well but was too bulky. A bed tray at Ikea looked ok but was flimsy.

I saw this one at an EQ3 store. Might work…

Don't forget to keep a bell by your bed for when you need something

Needs a cup holder.;)

I wonder if anyone ever got away with slipping hashish in with the incense. Did attendance increase?

I recall that charcoal pucks were placed in the bottom of the censer. They would spark when lit. The censer was brass, it had chains to lift the top off. Incense was scented organic gum granules, lavender was common. The incense was scooped from a boat with a spoon into the censer. The lid was lowered and swinging the censer about commenced.

Judaism and Islam use(d) incense in their rituals, early Christians probably adopted it from them. Many other religions use it as well.

Religious use of incense

My sense at the time informs me the musicians were often more open minded than might be presumed. But I see this outside of church at some very interesting parties. Interesting, that is, for a teenager unfamiliar with ... well they look like kooks to me! Good people.

Attempted to watch Dr Zhivago the other year. I gave up after 45 mins.
A not too difficult read and a beautiful love story, but I did find Pasternak's poetry at the end of the book fairly difficult IIRC. Pasternak has since admitted that much the book was true and the parts about Lara were written about his mistress.

If you hear it thud. Next clue - Why is this thing broken?

My first clue is a sprained neck because my head flopped to the back or side.
I have two brothers. We shared a bedroom as kids, using two bunk beds. I was the oldest, so I got the top of one of them. My next brother got the top of the other. #3 slept on the lower bunk under #2. There was a cabinet with a bookcase on top of it between the beds. The cabinet, twice the depth of the bookcase, had a thick glass top. I woke up one night to a thud. #2 had rolled off the top bunk, hit his chin on the corner of the cabinet, breaking of a triangular corner of the glass with his chin. I found the single piece of glass on the floor. Right next to #2, still asleep. :rollno:

I have NEVER been that sound of a sleeper. Envied him for that, I did.

I've slept through five alarm fires next door :D

It was all a pretty big deal, I suppose. Friend invited me to her daughter's something-or-other party. Many teens, some food, a show of solidarity for some reason. Back home, and in my office, fell asleep on the floor on a papasan cushion I used for meditation. Woke to a visual riot of red emergency lights next door. Every EMS crew for miles around was there. Fancy equipment! We get to use it! YAY
And many members of our fine constabulary doing cop things.

Story turned out to be about how the next-door-neighbor stabbed and killed his wife, set the house on fire, and went to the nearest watering hole to brag to his friends. Swift arrest followed, tried and convicted, forget how many years they gave him. Many.

This is the point where a good ghost story is conjured up for the telling. What I know from former roles is I hate reporting on fire fatalities the most. Burglar makes his way into a sporting goods store through the ventilation duct. Steals whatever it is he's looking for (I suppose), and sets a fire to cover his tracks. Gets stuck in the shaft on his way out as the fire takes hold and all — all — the ammo goes off.

I fought my fight, I say today over coffee. And this is a good convo with @mikeoso for how is it to be called back for one more mission?

Exactly so. This evening my esteemed colleague of absolutely years rang me up. I know her far too well. She does not engage my attention unless there is work to do. There are hundreds of hours of our recorded work that I might only describe as unlike anything I know about anywhere. And we binned it early this year. All of it. This is the first I've heard from her since so ...

... so she likes the cat bass
and so do I
