To change the subject: gig report. Went to a pub on Quarry Street. Great band. Lennon lived up a few doors and Sir Paul t’other way. There was an actual sandstone quarry there at one time. I wonder where the name Quarrymen came from?

Last night we went to the Cavern Pub, not the club, to see a band my brother wanted me to see. The pub has an “Orange” stage. All Orange backline. A really good band was on consisting of a guitar player and a female rhythm section. Both ladies were great players. They were loverly too. The band went on at 9PM and finished at 11:30 all without stopping. I was tired for them!! :D

I always do! :)

Today we needed some large bark chips so we went to a store called Dobbies. On our way back we passed the house where Lennon grew up. It’s marked with a round blue plaque commemorating that fact. It’s just round the corner from Strawberry Fields.

I never took the time before to check these places out. Too busy with work, school and trying to make it in the music world.

So i rented a car, Audi A6, and we drove up to Penrith in Cumbria to see my sister. Her health is failing but it was wonderful to be back with her. Due to time constraints we could only stay a couple of days.

Back in Liverpool my wife’s cold has worsened so I took a walk to find a drug store which I did. On the way I passed the house where Ken Dodd lives. I would like to add how tickled I am at walking by! :)

Went into a pub that was advertising live music only to find that it was a DJ. I had played the place in the Sixties so I was disappointed.

This being April 26 means that my Dorothy and I have been married for 48 years. Wow! And we haven’t killed each other yet!! :D All the brothers, their wives and their grown children and their wives and kids are coming over on Saturday to throw us a party. Sadly that’s something our own children never bothered to do. :rollno:

Anyway we’re having a great time and on my walks, I’m talking to locals and getting a refresher on all things Scouse! LOL

@99Z3 I’m so sorry that you are having difficulties. My thoughts are with you.

Congrats to both of you! I hope Dorothy feels better soon. Our anniversary is tomorrow, and we are getting each other root canals.

The root canals also got me out of jury duty yesterday too. Good thing, because by the time I got into the jury box for selection, my blood sugar dropped out. 3 day case. I might not do so well as far as bias. He's charges with being a peto as it's called in UK, seems he has a 13 YO fetish and wanted to make a biz of it making his own videos. I might have carried out the sentence myself. Pretty disturbing to even be in the courtroom with him. He's not going to get a fair trial here from a technical/legal definition standpoint, but that's just a formality.

Another Tit Bit from here is that one hell of a lot or most cars here have diesel engines. Apparently some years ago the government decided that diesel engines produce less harmful emissions so they offered payment program to encourage the shift. When they realised that diesels produce far more it was too late.

Another thing that got me was that the engine in the Audi would stop when the car was say at a traffic light. Worse it would stop in the middle of an intersection while waiting to complete a turn. With a big truck heading at you it could be a little worrisome!!

I would have to disable that feature! I know how to use the key-switch! Diesel I could dig though. But I've got the next best thing, an I6, the gas engine that thinks it's a diesel. Uh, petro engine for you Sir Paul, the wild one?

Well good mate, since you've brought poor ken's past back to the back pages of our great GOF hangout, I thought you and he might like to know at this very moment, I'm sitting on a tree stump chair in my back yard in front of God and everyone else as I fondle and rub my way huge russian pickle. Coupled with my favorite pipe and very good hand blended Danish tobacco, it is a great feeling!
