ho ho ho and yak yak yak,
I can B, I can B,

He's asked me to apologize for his absence and say hello to all!

For all who know him, he's a great guy, and was missed.

Oh, yes and he was very explicit in telling me, he want's absolutely no GOF hugs. OK, I made that up, but I'm sure he will tastefully decline.

I get so frustrated with forums, this one included... Don't people (as a rule) just do things, without a committee, a thousand opinions on the same question asked a hundred different ways? C'mon y'all (non specified), do you REALLY think the color of your cable affects the tone, or that there shouldn't be any discernible difference between $200 product A and $1500 product B, especially since you've only been playing 4 yrs? Do you REALLY guy gear based on the hyper compressed MP3 clips you hear on YouTube, or worse? Do you REALLY think that using a signature line instrument will default you to sounding like the guitar's namesake? Do you REALLY think that any bass tracks recorded since 1990 have been done in one pass, no tweaking, that what you hear is exactly, tonally, and performance, what was played?

Does the search button only appear on my laptop? Did the laws of physics change while I was in the shower? Was the Fletcher-Munson curve rewritten? What happened to 'let me try it for myself' instead of gear by consensus?

Will John ever hook up with Marsha?

(/rant)

I can add to that!

The world has taken an odd turn.

Kids in school today work in groups, learning is by committee. Learning standards keep being lowered. Assignments tend to be group efforts. There are leaders and a lot of followers.

Later when they turn up in companies, they tend to not be able to function alone. You have to train them for every eventuality or they give up. They can't think outside the box. They don't understand how things work. They plug numbers into a computer but don't know how to interpret the results. They can't problem solve. They can't do math in their heads. They can't even make change. Unfortunately, this doesn't bode well for technical and many other types of work.

Couple that with their social life being more important than their job. How about putting down the phone and doing some work. All this makes hiring good people very difficult.

Is it not human nature to want (somehow) to connect? In this age of "non-human contact" or "contact by non-human means", it is one way to attempt to sit at the cool table... we are unable, any longer, to go up to someone & say: "Wanna be friends?" like when we were 5 years old... (& yet, we behave like 5 year olds with temper tantrums at times)
Oh, humans... can't live with 'em & can't live with 'em (not written in error)
later,
Peter

Damn man! Now we all gots to call ya Nicholas! LOL

"A camel is a horse designed by a committee"

Committee: a group of men who individually can do nothing but as a group decide that nothing can be done.

How many committee members does it take to change a lightbulb? "This topic was resumed from last week's discussion, but is incomplete pending resolution of some action items. It will be continued next week. Meanwhile ..."

Gleaned from said interweb. Sorry you're having a bad day @Ken Morgan but such is the struggle of life. We woke up older and realized it wasn't the world we started in. And we're wondering how the h3ll it's going to go on and succeed when we fly the coop! :blackeye:

In my opinion, the cables must be black. The high carbon in black rubber suppresses noise far better, noise that can walk right through the tiny holes in the woven outer shield of blue or white cables. Not only black, but must be black rubber. Prefer monster. Best name, sounds scary and intimidates drummers. The black also acts as an ESD safety net, keeping you from accidentally discharging static electricity into an input and wacking your amp. I learned the hard way. Blew out five amps. Went white, blue, orange, red, yellow and green. Finally tried a black cable and didn't blow up the input section to the amp and NO HISS!!!! There is also the green factor. If you use color cables, you are depleting the rain forests and encouraging slash and burn tactics. Most colors come from parrots only found in the rain forests, except the ever popular tan/tweed which comes from the trees themselves, after slashing and burning them. Then when you use black rubber, which hasn't come from rubber trees for decades, that lovely noise suppressing, static discharging, pretty black carbon is removed from the ecosystem and does not enter the atmosphere. Carbon bad, remember? It's all about carbon, carbon brain. Actually we are carbon life forms so we are all carbon brains. And our brains are not only electrical, they also are chemical. Short term memory is all electrical impulses, charges held in the brain cells, while medium term memory is a light chemical charge, things your brain interpret as important, that you might remember for a few days or a week. Then, really important stuff, things you remember for life, like when you grab a neon pink instrument cable, accidentally use it on a cab behind a high power amp, it burns off the shield some and melts things and there is no carbon on the remaining outer insulation, because it's stinkin' pink, and it proceeds to not only melt pink goo into your skin whcih you will be made fun of for weeks, it also shocks your balls off and you get a strong chemical bond to teach you to use black cables only!

Well yah, John hooked up with Marsha, mated with her, and dumped her. It wasn't that it was bad, he just didn't want commitment. It's all on xhamster. Rumor has it, "John" choked on a little red ball and left show biz for a career in music, then his new job hassling the kids at the school. It's been real nice talking to you, pickle, real nice talking to you.
