It’s been many years and yet I can remember that sweet smell like it was yesterday.

Whenever I solder, I clean up the flux residue with Q-tips generously dipped in isopropyl alcohol. Maybe it stems from my early years.

Scratched eye courtesy of a playful 19 mo. old. Bruised too. Opthomologist prescribed some stuff. Sunglasses for sensitivity to light.

Wife used to wear contacts. One morning as she hurried to work she tried to pull out an old contact and ripped off a piece of her cornea. It was scary as H3ll but it healed and she switched to glasses and never went back to contacts. Takes just a split second to change our lives sometimes... Glad it's only temporary..

I'm around and lurking, just haven't had any marginally amusing smart a** comments come to mind. This was the week for my wife's bi-monthly eye injection to try and delay her eventual blindness and I'm still waiting to find out if I'll be able to play bass anymore, so it's been kinda somber in our house. The rum bottle is half empty (or half full if you're an optimist) (or twice the size it needs to be if you're an engineer) already and for the first time in decades I find myself wishing weed was legal. Sometimes my facade of the happy fool cracks...

If all can hold out I read miracles are on the horizon for eye issues. That's the next big thing in medicine. I have a friend here in little Sitka that received great news recently-- some treatments that were proven in Europe will be available here in the US in the near future. And he was told once his vision was gone that was it. Now he's been told there's hope. Not saying it's the same condition as your wife's but don't give up hope, lots of headway being made in that field.

I hope you can play bass again, I sprained my thumb recently and couldn't do a couple shows. Missed it.

As far as weed goes, come visit Alaska. It's all legal here! LOL

I remember a security brief a few years back where IIRC we were told that even if pot is legal where we live/work, its use still presents an issue when our periodic background re-investigations are conducted and if detected during a random drug test.

For no particular reason I don't drink, smoke or use recreational drugs...which I guess means I'll never get to be a lead guitarist or drummer...but I'm fine with folks who want to do that stuff. My only caveat is that they respect the rest of us by not driving or doing dangerous work while under the influence.

Guilty as charged! However, in my defense (no DoD pun intended) it makes life in my profession a lot simpler and easier, especially my security updates.

Who is the moron who said honesty is the best policy...I'm revising my previous post to read: I didn't drink, smoke or cuss until I was out of the 8th grade.
