I used to work regularly with Blue Cheer founder Gary Lee Yoder, and have built custom gear for him for probably 25 years. His hearing has of course suffered.

Dammit! I should have stayed out of the speaker discussion. I wound up looking around on the RevSound site again and it's got me thinking about selling my fancy (& overkill for me) MAS46 speaker and getting one of their small ones. I seem to only be playing at home now so I don't drive the MAS cab up to the SPL's where it's qualities come into play. It'd make more sense for me to be using a conventional 1x12 or maybe a 2x10. I can feel the GAS coming on again...

My first amp was a VOX AC50 with the 18” Foundation cabinet. I’ve detested 18s ever since. :(
Bag End 18, under 100# and it'll shake your boys :D

Been there and got the wet t-shirt, three times. And that was only Friday night.
I didn't catch the whole conversation;been working since 7AM (now 10:30PM here). But you were in a wet T-shirt contest? Did you win?

Engineers are always thinking about preventive maintenance....! :D

Actually I was thinking more about lack of PM, and so my rust buster favorite, PB Blaster, came to mind. While I'm typically not a believer in "miracle in a can" products, PB Blaster is one of the closest I've ever seen.

You have to try Kroil! 50/50 ATF/Acetone is almost as good though.

Kroil at DuckDuckGo

It's pink and smells like kerosene. KeRosene OIL = Kroil? I think the "oil" would be high detergent hydrastic or ATF.
Maybe a little old faithful, B&B 3100...the jet/turbine engine gas path cleaner of choice on military flightlines everywhere. Of course I was always a fan of the walnut shell approach until the fine debris started clogging air cooling passages in blades and eroding compressor blade coatings!

Good morning GOF's. ROLL CALL!!! Everyone check fingers and toes, all there-- present and accounted for LOL....
Well my friends, today I'm 66. Odd, I sure don't feel like those old codgers I used to see when I was young. I think the boomer generation is going to redefine what getting older means. It doesn't mean high pants with suspenders and buttermilk anymore. But I guess we kind of changed a lot of things in our lifetime didn't we?

Wife Carey's making me homemade BBQ pork ribs with coleslaw and baked beans. She wants to bake a cake today but with just two of us here I feel like that's a lot of sugar to have hanging around for the rest of the week. I'm happy to be alive when I've lost so many friends through the years. I lost my kid brother when he was 53, that was hard. But today it's good to be alive!

All the best on your birthday.

I don't know which is worse for you, greasy ribs or cake and icing. I suspect the ribs. Better BBQ'ing a tenderloin, there's a lot less fat.

You can go through a cake in a lot less time than a week, especially if you share it. :)

Happy B-day Will! 66 ain't that old, 'cuz I'm only 8 months behind ya and I don't feel old.

Wait.
Yes I do. Just got done putting the gutters back up, and now I'm wiped out for the rest of the day.
Hope you have a happy day! Just make sure to pace yourself.

TB Classifieds, CL, eBay, all the stores are boneyards for the old timers. Makes me feel sad and old at the same time.
When I was young it was just a fact of life that if you wanted great sound you had to have a fridge onstage. Then somewhere in the 80's I discovered Peavey bass combos. Especially THE Combo. 300 watts and a 15" Black Widow. Weighed a ton for a small amp. But I put it in a flight case with wheels and it was easy to move around. Put the combo on the case for performance. Line into the PA for FOH and monitors and I was golden. Mostly been a small/light advocate since.

I still play out so for myself I enjoy the Class D and lightweight cabs I use.
