Man, I am steaming right now.
It was bad enough that the idiot neighbors to the east have consecutive City Street Lights, with the immediate neighbor's pole an acre from the gravel road.
It was bad enough until said light quit working and the new bulb (SuperNovaSun) was installed. My property is lit up like a Fellini set.
Granted I don't get the best views in the world of stars out here, but now I might as well be living next to a gas station for the quality of country living I'm getting… They move down a gravel road in the middle of crawfish/rice fields to install blinding sources of light?! The immediate idiot eastern neighbor only recently (like 3 years) developed the land and installed Light.
It is taking all of my will power not to take out that city light out permanently.

I here ya, we had a neighbor that liked to put bright bulbs on their back porch facing us. I like to photo things like this during the seasons.

The little neighbor girl across the street, she's maybe 18...maybe, knocks on my door this morning. She needs a ride to work at Little Caesars.

I need about a micro second to process this. My wife is at work. Dilemma....not.

All the old widows/divorcees who live on both sides and across the street from me have there noses pressed up against their windows.

I said, give me a minute to put the dogs away. She says she'll give me $5 for gas. I chuckle.

She's waiting beside my truck. Torch red F-150 4x4, Flowmaster exhaust, it's as loud and as obnoxious as it gets. "Global Warmer" sticker in the back window... You know the one.

I make quite the ruckus going up the street with mini-muff riding with me.

Drop her off at the pizza joint, hit the beer store for a case of Sam.

This will keep the old birds in the neighborhood chirping for a few days.

Yes summer Monsoons, part of the reason I was talked into moving here.
Also the reason I believe in good surge protection

This I do know about.
If you get a hot to neutral fault on a power line, like a wet branch falling across the hot and neutral conductor.
There isn't a surge protector made by man fast enough to stop that surge.

I found this out after losing 9 dialup modems, a septic pump, a heat pump and some rack gear that was off, from
a power surge somewhere on the line.

A whole-house, meter hub mounted surge arrestor is probably the best, but not completely failsafe.

The only way to be sure is to open the circuit breaker feeding your outlets or unplug the gear.
