Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Our fertilizer/containment expert goes out to farm shows. He told me there was some chick selling a forked attachment for a battery powered drill to "alter" the pigs. I guess she said it spins them off so fast and hard it hurts less and doesn't bleed. I don't think there is a good way to have that done. Not even a better way. Maybe a slightly less horrific way.

My kishu dog Hunky is 3,5 years old and now we have also a female puppy of the same breed who is nearing her first "season". So my vet tells me how she'd like Hunky to have a chemical castration to see how he would react to the eventual surgical removal of his testicles. (Oh this is so hard to write...)

I took Hunky to have the capsule installed today. Poor guy.
Well, with this procedure rather than the unmentionable, irreversible other, even if the gun won't fire, poor Hunky can at least enjoy cleaning it, as dogs do.

The leads from a Vietnam era field comm phone work very well

And you know this how?

Being a father to a daughter must I think be more than a bit troubling. I still remember some of my teenage ‘antics.’ :(

Not always. I remember when my daughter was in high school. She was both a really intelligent latter day hippie bass player and she didn't take any crap from boys. High school boys tend to be pretty insecure, so they were mostly afraid of her. When she and the few boys who weren't afraid of her joined the after-school bowling league they had to come up with a team name. Rather than the typical "Bombers", "Hi-Scores", etc. they called themselves "The Castigating Misanthropes". That alone would have been enough to turn away the average high school boy.

Sounds like a good idea.

I heard that new recruits had it in their food in boot camp. Somehow I doubt that though. Training is enough to drain the life out of you.
Not in the Navy. You gotta learn to deal with your hormones!

In boot camp if someone got caught doing the funky cold madina to their hand they had a tough sentence. When we marched, which we did going everywhere out of the barracks, they had to wear one tennis shoe and one boot and skip along behind the formation. No one in my company got caught but I remember seeing a few red faced young men skipping behind their company.

Yeah, the vet is a "her". The chemical castration is done by a hormone-releasing capsule installed under the skin. The full effect (infertility) is complete at 6 weeks, and lasts up to 8 months. This way we can see how the dog's temper changes and whether the real castration would have any irreversible negative effects such as skin issues, hair loss, obesity, irritability etc. Hunky has a few health issues that prevent us from using him as a breeding stud, and since the puppy is his niece, the combination would not work anyway. Vasectomy would probably be a nasty way to encourage animal incest.

This'll keep them whippersnappers off my lawn... ;) ;) ;)

Speaking of the US Navy...(someone at some point was anyway) they sure train their pilots.

Seems the pilot of the Southwest Air jet with the exploding engine was a Navy F18 vet...She managed to regain control of the craft and get it down safely. That’s a ‘Sully Level’ feat of flying, in my view...

Further kudos to the people who somehow pulled the lady back into the plane...the one that had been sucked halfway out the imploded window.

I cannot fathom what all went thru those people’s minds...

I had heard that the pilot was the very first female F-18 pilot, so she probably had to be extra skilled and cool under pressure to achieve that. There must be a lot of people who are grateful for that.
Sad that the poor woman who got sucked part way out that tiny window didn't survive, but it had to have been pretty devastating to her body.

Events such as this are the reason why one should always keep your seat belt fastened. If she had, she would still be alive today.

There’s a show on TV named ‘Mayday’ and I find it fascinating. I have learned a lot about flying from the show and what can go wrong.
No , she probably would have died due to blunt force trauma as she was hit by shrapnel and the window
