Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

A pleasure to use old mics. I wonder about the history behind them when I pick them up. I think that relatively new reissue mics are more desirable these days. Some of the old Neumann capsules have issues because of the PVC membranes stretching with time. Repair costs becomes an issue with having to get them retensioned or replaced. The Mylar ones from the 60’s on are good.

I have one older Neumann, a U87Ai that I use a lot. It’s never required any maintenance since I bought it around ‘87.

I sent this way by G-dog..

My qualifications: just turned 58 last week; four years to retirement (elementary teacher for 31 years; worse class of mischief makers in years will be descending into my room in eight weeks; I'm re-writing science curriculum for the 50,000th time; and I now have to head outside to re-sweep the sidewalk that the lawn kid did after mowing. Oh yeah, love playing my bass as much as annoying parents with nightly homework. Can I get a number?

60 and Grumpy when I am working and not able to use my vintage SVT's. Or my New Super Bassman 300. Can I get a number
I'll go back and read as many as possible....after my nap. I'm 72, been playin' bass(es) since 1967, still tryin' to get it right. Gimme a # 'fore I kick the damn bucket. HEY! Get outta my mango tree!

We................ll I suppose we can give you a number I suppose! You wuz borned in 1946 after all! :D
(Just like me.)

I bought my first bass in 1962 so there!!! LOL

I trust everyone is hale and hearty on this fine day. :)

I play a gig in a park this Saturday 12 noon sound check. I must remember to pack the bug spray. Sound is provided so I don’t have to bring my PA. Possibly drums and amps as well. A walk on, walk off gig has a lot to say for it.

Old Fart! but we already knew that. :D

it just struck me that when I started playing gigs in Liverpool I was always the youngster. Nowadays I’ve been the old guy for as long as I can remember! BooHoo. :crying:

More or less hale and I haven't seen Harty! Still a young 66 and chase girls but wouldn't know what to do with them if I caught one! And I don't think Carey would like that too much!
I'm jamming Sunday at a fish restaurant outside! Hope it doesn't rain! Lots of fun things to do in Sitka during the summer, lots of people visiting/working/vacationing. Today it's muggy and slightly overcast. Wife is out shopping for condiments to make potato salad! Woo hoo!

Welcome to the newest (moldy) GOF's! Hope one yaz guys give them numbers, then new guys, make sure to WRITE THEM DOWN BEFORE YOU FORGET THEM!

I don't think any of the "yaz guys" remember how to issue numbers...probably an age/grump thing. Maybe what the new guys should do is use the post number of their request as their member number (it's been done before). That way, they will have some 9,000 numbers ahead of the really old grumps, making them younger grumps. Just a thought ;).
