Maybe the band counts to four and then the dancers count in and start four beats later. What if they are supposed to start before the music?

I'd assume that - like drummers - they think in units of 2 measures. That's why the drummer click-in goes:
1-2-1234. Could just as easily be 1-3-5678 .

Dear Miss Lucille, I believe you are the first and only Lady GOF! Welcome! I have no comment on your age, but your hair is prettier than mine and I think more so than any other GOF! I HAD a lot of color in my hair, Irish red, auburn, black from Denmark, and it shined in the sunlight... but now it's mud and gray. Buzz cut since 1982, then got in the financial/employment area where I don't care what anyone thinks, so haven't cut it for several years. Curly like yours, and when I go into the front office, the girls like to grab it, monkey with it, ask me how I care for it, play with the curls, etc. VERY OFFENSIVE, but I done want to make waves, so I put up with it

See I would have imagined that in that situation you'd have acted a little indignant, clearly articulated that you didn't have to put up with that type of inappropriate behavior in the workplace, and then told them they had exactly 20 minutes to stop doing it.

I guess it just goes to show that even people you know well can surprise you!
