I used to fly fish at a catfish farm. They have a lure or "fly" that looks like their feed. Kind of like shooting them in a barrel, but semi fun for long enough to get 10 cats for free, and as fresh and good as the river cats, sans mercury.

HAHA I had to edit, I said looks like their feet, not feed I'm still huffing and puffing from yard duties. Only thought I was going to die twice.

Sadly Alaska is not catfish country. When we were in Kentucky I had catfish and chips and it was sure delicious! The restaurant was a small wooden gray shack with bare light bulbs and mismatched chairs and tables. But the owners were kind and very welcoming to wife Carey and myself. They also made a slaw that was 'sour' using vinegar instead of mayonnaise. Same thing with their BBQ. It was vinegar based. I didn't think I'd like it but ended up enjoying it....

Cats are the #2 best tasting fresh water fish. Pan fish is where it's at. Of course Salmon is not bad, but they are realy bisaltxual.

The best and healthiest way to cook salmon or rainbow trout that I know is wrap a filet (skin down) in aluminum foil. Before tightly sealing the filet, add some lemon, sea salt, and fresh ground pepper. I cook it in a toaster oven 350 deg F for 20-25 minutes depending on size. When done, remove the skin and serve. Simple. The bonus is that it doesn't fishy smell up the house.

This weekend could very well spell my doom. We have two gigs booked. The first is Sat. night from 8 to 12. This should be at least bearable. The second one is Sun. from 2 to 6 pm. Both gigs are outdoors. It is supposed to be in the mid to high 90's both days. If you see a puddle ooze across the floor of TB on Sun. evening.......That's me.

The weather is going to be nuts this weekend, high humidity as well.

They are advising old people, kids, pregnant women, those with illnesses, those working, those exercising, pretty much everyone to not go outside.

Watch out for swelling, rash, cramps, gas, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and worstening of heath conditions.

Wanted to share a quick story with you GOF's. Went to a show to see a father/son duo play last weekend. I have seen them many times and usually they are pretty good. Well, this week, they added a bass player (also very good) and a drummer. The bass player was in shorts. I know, I know. To many of you GOF's this is a huge no no. Personally I wear cargo shorts and birkenstocks, so I didn't care at all about his attire. The drummer on the other hand.........mid to late 40's, long, unkempt mullet, Iron maiden t-shirt and.......pajama pants. To make matters worse, before they started the 1st set, the drummer rolled his PJ pants into shorts. I thought of you guys right away. Now. to be honest, I was willing to look past that until he started playing. He couldn't keep time if I was beating him over the head with it. Truly the worst drummer I've ever heard playing out. At the 3rd song I got up to leave and my friend, the father asked if they scared me off.......I said "you, no" shot a look towards the muppet drummer (actually that's an insult to animal the muppet drummer). dad just nodded and smiled. Just made me laugh and smile and think of some of you old gumpsters while I cringed at the gig.

.... been quite a week around here. Dropped my Grandson off at Pearson International yesterday. He flew out to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and then Stoney Rapids where he will put-in for a 52 day once-in-a-lifetime, canoe trip. He will be paddling north, into the Northwest Territories, then across Nunavut and into Hudson’s Bay. Then north to a little Inuit community called Arviat and home. It’s with Camp Wanapitei, a wilderness canoe tripping camp located in the Temagami region, here in Ontario. The trip is just shy of 1000 km. Can hardly wait to hear the stories and watch the videos he is going to take paddling through rapids.

... and ... my sweetie, as of yesterday, is officially retired as an elementary school teacher (she works with autistic kids) I have been retired for almost 6 years - pretty sure there will be an adjustment period. LOL

Fellow musicians are always the worst critics.

I recall being at an outdoor festival, there was a boogie woogie blues band playing. I was at the edge of the stage. A horn player did his bit, then looked at me, shrugged his shoulders in embarrassment and gestured sorry. I realized that I must have had a look on my face. It taught me to never do that again, always be supportive.

He did much better as the show progressed and the band returned in subsequent years.

The leaders are very experienced and familiar with these trips and know how to travel in bear country, so I am pretty comfortable with that.

Yes, but you both should find/cultivate separate interests b4 you get on each others nerves. Short breaks from being underfoot.
