Much appreciated, Bad-man...I don't come asking because it would be bad taste. But I'm happy to talk about the work if people want. Or, as the Example said, just click on the link and go sight seeing.
Very cool effort if you ask me. So many animals have been exploited by becoming a popular bread. Pot belly pigs, Jack Russel Terriers, exotic birds, the list goes on. Very honorable work you are doing IMO.

How many birds do you think you have rescued so far?

So there's this fella with a parrot. And this parrot swears like a sailor, I mean he's a pistol. He can swear for five minutes straight without repeating himself. Trouble is, the guy who owns him is a quiet, conservative type, and this bird's foul mouth is driving him crazy. One day, it gets to be too much, so the guy grabs the bird by the throat, shakes him really hard, and yells, "QUIT IT!"

But this just makes the bird mad and he swears more than ever. Then the guy gets mad and says, "OK for you." and locks the bird in a kitchen cabinet. This really aggravates the bird and he claws and scratches, and when the guy finally lets him out, the bird cuts loose with a stream of vulgarities that would make a veteran sailor blush.

At that point, the guy is so mad that he throws the bird into the freezer. For the first few seconds there is a terrible din. The bird kicks and claws and thrashes. Then it suddenly gets very quiet. At first the guy just waits, but then he starts to think that the bird may be hurt. After a couple of minutes of silence, he's so worried that he opens up the freezer door.

The bird calmly climbs onto the man's outstretched arm and says, "Awfully sorry about the trouble I gave you. I'll do my best to improve my vocabulary from now on."

The man is astounded. He can't understand the transformation that has come over the parrot. Then the parrot says, "By the way, what did the chicken do?" :smug:

A family member who was missing a finger had a parrot. I was told that the parrot bit his finger off. I didn’t believe him, I figured that he wanted us to leave the bird alone.

I was introduced to him as a kid in the 1950’s. At the time, the bird was 60 years old, born in the late 1800’s. Not sure how long he lived. I remember him being a happy bird that got a lot of attention.

Three months ago we placed a bird that had been imported in 1950, so at least 68 years old. Very bad tempered, hates people...probably qualifies for this club? The documented record for longevity on a parrot is 116.

SITREP 2018NOV20: Night boss has awakened. Appears to be in little to no pain. Wiggles thumb and I note she can extend it straight now. Night boss coverages on paper work from my physical yesterday and quickly points out fasting blood sugar and tryglycerides are elevated. Unable to duck under table fast enough to avoid attack. Ordered my fat (_!_) to 20 min/day on the treadmill and no more tasty food. PSA came in below noise level of test. Cancer free for five years now.

Edit: forgot the mil-spec font :D

Congrats on being cancer free. Sorry about the tasty food part though. Advantage of living alone: nobody tells me what to eat(or not). Disadvantage:.......hmm,.....I'll get back to you on that.:smug:

Thanks bro. GP! I am blessed with a great physician who started testing my PSA levels years before the usual 50 YO mark. So he had a bass-line going back several years. Saw a sharp increase, although well under the cutoff, he saw that increase as a dire indication. About 6 months later a robot was yanking out some of my happy parts. Thanks to the best urologist in the area, I have no side effects and don't miss that old prostate gland one bit.

Mine is a similar story, Baddy. I started PSA at 40. Biopsy at 42 confirmed definite, but slow growing prostate cancer. I interviewed many, many men at my refinery about their experience or their dad's. I finally elected surgery and had a great outcome. That was 25 years ago! No probs since. Now "The News" says such young guys shouldn't take the PSA!?! Balderdash!

A few years ago I read the US wanted to raise the age for routine PSA testing to 50 years old, at the same time civilized nations were lowering the tests to start at 40 years old. Early detection is key. Backasswards thinking raising that age to 50. What's worse is most of the time when younger men get prostate cancer, it starts out as a fast growing cancer and they are pretty much dead men walking by the time it's discovered symptomatically. When the cancer begins at later years, it usually starts out as a slow growing cancer. It will likely turn aggressive if ignored, be there is plenty of time to deal with it before it cops an attitude. Can you imagine getting prostate cancer in your 20's and being told it's gone far enough that there is no viable treatment? If I were in my 20's, I'd seriously consider paying for the test out of pocket at least every few years. Cancer of the who-ha's; that's got to be about the worst ways to go. :(
