Well , the ol' weather man blew it again. It was supposed to rain yesterday till about 4 PM and then clear out and warm up a bit. Nope. I had a gig last night and when I went out to load the old truck , there was about 1/8 of an inch of solid ice encasing the thing and my sidewalk could have been used as a skating rink. I usually load the truck about a half hour before I have to leave , so I loaded it and started it up and cranked the heater. I salted the sidewalk before doing this. No slipping on the sidewalk and the truck was de iced and nice and warm by the time i had to leave. Streets seemed to be OK and the gig was only ten minutes from my house.
Found out at the gig that this will be the next to the last gig I play with this band. I took a spot in a band with a killer brass section in it (something I have wanted to do for 40 years now) and the current band leader got all butt hurt and said he didn't want to book around the new band. He also doesn't like the band leader or the drummer but that's another story. I have one more gig with them that I am committed to and then he says that he is trying out a new guy next weekend. So be it. The new band already has about 15 gigs on the books for next year and booking season hasn't really started around here yet. Looks like even with only the one band , the old smelly fish is gonna be pretty busy next year.

When we loaded out , the windshield was frozen solid again. So much for warming up after 4 PM.
