I’ve seen Finnish folk music that was primarily vocals. Sometimes with plinky harp type instruments. You could substitute a banjo because it can be plinky as well.

Elements of folk music were used by Focus, a Dutch band. This great version of Hocus Pocus can be used to call the cows home.

Does that extend to ? Zorba seems hard to play well, with respect to timing, all the way through.

The audience seems somewhat restrained. A couple were tapping along. A tough crowd.

bouzouki is a little better!

So can a very loud motorcycle, but, it doesn't mean it's a pleasing sound ;).
We have Harley mania here in Durango, they are all over the the place! They sound great to me with the factory exhaust, most of them get taken off though, in favor of the ear splitting racket! A lot say it is a safety feature as they ride with no helmet!

Hmm. Louder is safer than wearing a brain bucket.

...not a cycle guy myself, so maybe I shouldn’t be casting aspersions, but anyone who would ride without a helmet just gave away their right to even Comment on safety.

...and this comes from a guy who Always checks 2wice...
Motorcycles are everywhere!

For the most part , the thing about loud pipes being safer is a myth. Those pipes are sending the noise out the back and somewhat to the side. Anyone that thinks people in front of you can hear loud pipes is pretty much fooling themselves. For the record , I rode big chopped Harleys for over 20 years and although my pipes were a bit louder than stock ones , they were fully internally baffled , more to save my hearing than anything else. I rode with many folks who ran straight pipes and for the most part , just found them annoying to be around. I tried to avoid riding on the exhaust side of those guys bikes when I was riding with them. Nobody in the twenty or so years I was riding was ever saved from anything due to their loud pipes. As for helmets , hated the things. Like wearing a parachute tied around your neck. For a short ride , it wasn't too bad but on a long run , the fatigue factor was mind numbing. Never wore one back in the day. I have worn one when riding Seahags bike occasionally but more because it's the law now than desire. I was in a pretty good accident a couple of years ago on it. Broke my hand in three places , got a pretty good burn on my leg , not so much as a scratch on the brain bucket. Don't get me wrong , I am NOT advocating riding without a helmet. I just personally can't stand the things.

I and a friend I was with had seen a poster earlier for a competing show, so I told him, let's go, I'll treat you to it. This show was in a small club, the band playing was Laika and the Cosmonauts, a then touring group from my home country, Finland. We, and they, had a blast. The next day, I went back to see them tear down and got autographs on the back of the Band ticket.

I liked Laika and the Cosmonauts. Saw them once in NYC in the 90s, have a CD somewhere, haven't thought of them in a while. And, I remember as a little kid being sad because the original Laika, the Invalid Link Removed was left to her sad fate in the name of progress and exploration.

Kind of scary.

Because they legalized dope in Canada, they had to come up with a policy. I doubt that all regulations will be enforced to the letter. How can they, which goes back to why allow it. For instance, on’t consume eight hours before handling a weapon. What if they didn’t smoke but were in a room full of smoke. They are a lot of gray areas.

Invalid Link Removed

Members of the Armed Forces will not be allowed to consume cannabis during a shift or domestic exercise. They will not be allowed to bring cannabis on any aircraft or vessel and are not permitted to bring cannabis with them internationally.

As far as day-to-day tasks, military members cannot consume cannabis up to eight hours before performing any duty, up to 24 hours before handling a loaded weapon or driving a vehicle, and up to 28 days before joining the crew of an aircraft or submarine.

I always wore a helmet. Not a big deal.

I was taught to drive a motorcycle by a stunt driver. Every aspect was about safety. From initial vehicle walk around inspection, how to start the bike, how to pull away, how to control the bike, passenger safety, defensive driving, maintenance, etc. That training really stayed with me and applies to driving any vehicle. Even life in general.

A wonderful gift.

The funniest thing is I left UW to join the Army -- my mom said, 'do like your dad' join the Army and develop some discipline. I called after getting special dutied and my mom was dumbstruck. I ended up doing exactly what she was sending me away from! I miss those days and the camaraderie.

If your Mom is still with us, go give her a big hug from all of we who have lost ours! Mums is special Mums is! (Missing mine dreadfully.)

A Mum story: One fine day, before I left home for good, my mum says "Paul, I was looking though your wallet.” My guts hit the floor as I thought about the condom secreted inside. I was waiting for it to hit the fan when she said: “Why didn’t you tell me you had bought a new guitar?” I was so relieved I nearly jumped for joy! :) LOL I smile every time I think about it. On reflection I just KNOW se saw the condom too but was relieved that I would use one.

Sadly bro she's passed in the 90's. But she's still in my heart.

Now all guesses on how much I GAS now for a pedal that makes my bass and rig make plinky sounds are going to come up short. (and you wonder why the BL is clear about no mike for me?)
