After three weekends of work, hope to have two days off to enjoy being outdoors, rain or shine. Will hit a couple of farmer’s markets. Want to start working on some Christmas songs, have nothing yet.

Going jamming tomorrow with another retired teacher. We've been picking partners for about 30 years, and done more gigs together than I can count. When there's nothing else happening, we just kick back with a couple acoustics and play whatever comes to mind.

So...after 6 daze n knights of having our 8, 6, & 5 year old granddaughters here 24/6...

It’s Nature Camp week, and it’s easier to keep the all corralled in one place so as to have them there by 8am!!

Skate Country (2ice) the local water park once (thank goodness!) meals n baths n stories n up at 6:15 to make lunches n snacks n frozen water bottles...

Yeah...a nice, quiet evening at home sounds pretty attractive.

What strings do you like using on a Martin six?

I changed mine after about 25 years (June 21, 1994 ) on my HD-28 and couldn't find the same type from Martin that I was using. Installed a set of phosphor bronze Lifespan SP, light (12-54), MSP7100. I like the sound of the old ones. Maybe I just like dead strings.

I think all of us GOF's owned some form of a VW in our young lives.... they always seemed cheap and available...

I am the odd person out, I guess. I had very close friends who had 'em, tho ' I don't know if any had beetles. I can remember an orange Thing and a van which we had painted in an inverse color American flag. My folks, for reasons well beyond my current comprehension, allowed the painting to take place in their garage. I'm sure there are beetles in my past, but darned if I can remember them.

And they were relatively easy to fix.

Never owned a VW. My dad had a micro bus for awhile. He described the gears as "creep, crawl, walk and trot".
I went 62 Impala convertible, Volvo PV544, and first of many vans.

Never had anything but a chevy.

I have swapped out VW engines/transmissions for friends. It was cheaper to buy a $50 clunker and use it for parts. A Corvair had a similar engine with cylinder fins.

Give them time to break in/mellow, or just take them off the guitar and send them to me! I just took a set of those off my custom OM-18 after having put them on in August 2013. They still sounded good but I decided to change them for some weird reason.

I put EJ26 Custom Lights (that's what I happened to have around) and need to give them time to mellow some before making an accurate assessment. I loved the MSP7100s. IIRC, Martin has discontinued those, right?

I like Strings and Beyond. Always have good prices, fast delivery, and excellent service.

My problem is that every time I buy new strings everything has changed. Like the bad dream that you had as a kid where you got sick one day and when you returned to class, they changed the seating plan.

These days with strings shrink wrapped, you can buy them in bulk and they will be fresh. So if you find a set that you like and hord them. I’ve done this with some electric sets.

Bluegrass Jam Saturday afternoon, in memory of a longtime player who went to his reward recently. Unfortunately, I never got to meet him as he was in full-time care before I found out about the group.

Sunday morning Contemporary Christian gig at the early service and playing along to hymns in the regular service. Always uplifting.

I never had a VW, either. I could use my dad's cheap-o used '50s-something pickup 3-on-the-column inline 6 only if I had to haul something in the bed. Otherwise, I was lucky to get to drive my mom's brand new, shiny '65 Chevy Bel-Air 283 V8! You can imagine how that stacked up against my friends' parents' cars all in the 400 CID neighborhood.

That is, working around the humble abode.

Keeping cool in 90+ Cali weather.

Gotta adjust front sprinklers after plugging two that regularly were broken because they were next to a driveway and walkway. Still may have to install another one if I can't get enough coverage.

Also, one the valves has trouble starting up so that may be the Sunday project. At least I'll be getting cold water misted!
