I have a headless Cort in a natural oiled finish. It’s a lot like a baseball bat...or maybe more correctly, a cricket bat. Also had a transistorized Univox practice amp with one fifteen in the 70’s. It’s long gone.

All my basses live in their cases. High heat and humidity in the summer and very dry and cold conditions in the winter takes a toll. The cases help.

OK, for me it's the TBird , the EpiBird(5er), the Les Paul(5er), the Ibby, and the Squier. Clever.
The Ric, the Univox, the Cort, the Precision, the Biggun, the Moab pawn shop Bass, the pawn shop Ibanez, the Mikro, the Dawghouse Bass, and the Jaguar (5)...
The only one that has a Name is the Univox...the copy of Felix Pappalardi’ Gibson EB1 that I could afford as an 18 year old.
A fellow TBr referred to it as
Big Papi.
As a baseball fan I thought it was just fine.

In the course of time that saw the adoption of The New Bass, My Bass became My Ray, or My Stingray. The New Bass couldn't keep that name any more, being not so new. And pondered well, as one who never named her cars. Okay well there is that car, the Poormobile, just keep moving. Nothing here to see.
Saying The Chowny didn't feel right, and saying The CHB-1 didn't feel right. Ordered the CHB-1 in sapphire blue burst. Recalled the packing indicated the date of completion where Chowny instruments are made (India). Which is how I came up with the name - Solstice Eve.
No little brother or sister is planned. But we know how those things go.

Considering that "fire" is spelled f-i-r-e, why do we pronounce it fi-er?

The low humidity here in CA helps a lot. They'll mostly go into their cases in the late winter when we get a little bit of a rainy season. The only one I had that was sensitive to seasonal changes was my EBMM Sterling, which would need a tuneup around fall and then again around spring. Fret sprout would happen in the fall as well. Minor, but noticed it. So far I haven't had that problem with my newer ones.
It's almost always high(70%+)in FL. I kinda chuckle when I see humidifiers advertised. I was watching a Cubs game one day when the commentators mentioned the "high" humidity(45%)in Chicago. I 'bout fell outta my chair. ("wanna trade?").We were at around 80% that day. Yeesh!

We've been having a lot of 70% - 95% humidity this summer up here in the (south of the) Great White North.
Keep the cases safely separate.

W-I-D-E S-T-E-R-E-O reads bigger than wide stereo.
Fire is the process of combustion. F-I-R-E is what people yell to give the order to shoot or in a theatre. Events must dictate the meaning.
