getting an ebow to work

I have recently come into a contact with an ebow. It was sitting next to me on a bus, and I asked around, and it was no-ones. So now it's mine.:)

It's had a new battery, and it worked for a little bit, but now it doesn't. The LED still turns on, but nothing.

What's wrong?

It sounds as if you may not be placing the string in the magnetic field. The Ebow works by producing a magnetic field which you have to place the string in. I have used an Ebow on bass and If you rest the lower edge of the Ebow against your finger and the string below and rock the Ebow in towards the string until it starts vibrating that should work.
