Even better, JustStrings has emailed me that my set of GHS Balanced Nickels is on it's way! My best guess is that they are being drop shipped from GHS Battle Creek, MI. I'll be sure to let you know.

Listen to the sound clips in this thread. From what I've heard so far is that they do have a strong fundamental for a roundwound.Do they have a strong fundamental like a good set of flats?
I noticed these strings are a bit cheaper at BSO but they're about 1 1/2 weeks away from being in stock...fyi. I'll probably wait and buy from Jason.

High Praise indeed, and exactly what I am also hoping for. Hope = a confident expectation of good! These GHS Balanced Nickels are pretty much exactly what I hoped for.
I was interested in these strings because, as much as I like flatwound strings, I often want something a little brighter, a little more open. But still deep and fundamental.
I’d really like to know what you guys think of them? They’ve just come in stock over here and they’re the same price as Labella FL-MUS flatwounds bar £1. I love my Labella flats but I feel they aren’t that versatile. They are 43-104. The short scale GHS Balanced Nickels are 44-106, but are wound on a round core. Do you think there will be a noticeable difference in tension, and would they suit the Mustang better?
There will be huge difference in tension, with the GHS being very noticeable lower. You will have to check your neck relief and adjust your truss rod accordingly. Yes, I think they will suit your Fender Mustang much much better. With such a radical change you would be wise to go through a total setup. The short scale GHS Balanced Nickels are 44-106, but are wound on a round core. Thanks Linnin! How close to flats are they? There will be huge difference in tension, with the GHS being very noticeable lower. Not very as they are roundwounds on a round core. From the sound clips on this thread, I hear a stronger fundamental then any other round I have played. I'll be writing a review next week some time. How close to flats are they?
My set from GHS arrived today. I may put them on my Fender American Professional Precision this weekend. I have great expectations.
@Jon Moody, were you playing the 44-106 set in the video on the GHS product page?
Does the short scale set fit a thru body Mustang? The distance ball to tuner side of nut is 33-1/8" if I recall correctly.the 4700 set (44-60-80-106 short scale) on my Hofner in the office currently.

All our Short Scale sets (this included) have a 32.75" winding length, so my guess is no.
