GHS Balanced Nickel strings

I want to order a set of these to try for my Warwick Corvette $$. It has a Seymour STC-3 preamp in it. What will I expect with the sound/tone from that bass? Any experience? It currently has DR stainless on it however I usually always use D'Addario Nickel roundwounds on my basses.

Don't expect any zingy brightness from the BNs. They're more about full-bodied pure nickel warmth with focus and definition.

In my cover band we cover from Beatles to Country to current dance tunes. Would these be too mellow? I'm not a fan of rip your eardrums zing. I do play quite a bit of slap bass too.

While they are a lot less zingy than other rounds, the top end on the BN is still a decidedly round-wound characteristic tone, so I don't think they'll be too mellow for the context you mentioned. The low end is warm and phat, compared to what I would call "tight and controlled" in typical brighter string sets.

I've never played a Warwick $$, but I think a two-pickup bass with active EQ, you should be fine.

They aren’t new ones. I think they are 4 month old. Maybe a chemical reaction or something? I was wondering if anyone had the same experience. Soundwise they are perfect for my p bass 5.
I've heard of this and it's come up on TB before. For me it's not just with new nickels, though I think it decreases with break-in. As I said, it's never caused me any harm that I'm aware of.

Not classifieds I know, but I've got a couple sets of the BNs that I just can't find a home for. Neither set has much time on them--literally a few hours of actual playing time--and wonder if there's any interest here before going to the classifieds.

Just wanted to drop by to say that I've just installed them (40-101 light 4L-NB) on my Ibanez SR1200, and completed 2-3 practice sessions with them - and yes - they do seem to even-out the string-to-string differences that I had with the previous set.

Very happy.

In terms of brightness and zing - it's actually hard to tell with this bass, which has a relatively harsh active sound, but I'd venture to say they do give a somewhat warmer sound then other rounds - but just a tad bit warmer. These are still rounds after all.

38 Pages is a bit intimidating and I used the search function, but nothing came up....

Are there plans to make a C String available for the Balanced Nickels? Is it possible? Just curious. I’d love to try them, but both of my Basses have High C strings.

Thanks.
