GHS Balanced Nickel strings

Are there plans to make a C String available for the Balanced Nickels? Is it possible? Just curious.

We can't make the C string like the others (2 covers over a round core) so it wouldn't be "balanced" in that regard. However, moving from a 2 cover G string to a 1 cover C string isn't that drastic of a tonal difference, oddly. I've been using a 6st set of Round Core Bass Boomers (which have the same construction as BN now), and it's fine.

So, if we did make a BN C string, it would be along those lines. However, people simply haven't asked for one. The demand for a 6 string set is small already (compared to 4 or 5 string sets), and I can count on one hand how many times people have specifically requested it.

It's still possible, but realistically I wouldn't count on it.

How about Round Core Bass Boomers C strings with green silk? :-)

Hey @Linnin, did you know this? "Balanced Round Core Boomers"!

Thanks for the response, Jon. Tone wise the RC Boomers are balanced, but not tension wise, correct?

I'm very shocked to know you haven't heard of these magic strings from GHS. They compliment very well with all my basses

Some of us already know how magical Round Core Boomers are. But this is the first time @Jon Moody has publicly confirmed about them being "balanced" now, as in the same "balanced" construction as the Balanced Nickels. This is something relatively new and what @Linnin is excited about.

Well, I'm as surprised as all of you are.

Balanced Nickels 6-string set?

Yep.

Is this a factory set, or is the high C available only as a single?

At this point, it's merely a prototype.

If we make it, it'll only be available as a single. There's such a small market for 6 string players (or 5 string E-C players) that offering a packaged set just ties up inventory.

What's the gauge on the high C?

I asked for a .030, but tell the production staff to not focus on that so much that they miss making a good string. I haven't mic'd it yet to see if it is, in fact, what I asked for or something closer.
